thanks for the sad (yet hilarious) reminder of Chauca and Jones . This marks the time when I couldn't invest anymore head or heart space to cal basketball and this after a long streak of devotion. In retrospect one of the better decisions I've made. I would have been all over that parking space but would have messed up my Top Dog and/or Blondies route. I'll never forget when we beat them at Haas one night in a really tight game after listening to the derision of cal while waiting in line to get into Harmon. Place was packed. What in gods name has happened? It's a disgrace

I am a GREAT fan of Cal Football. Never miss a home game. I have been a fan (but not a great fan) of Cal basketball. But until recently I have regularly attend 5 or six games per year. And the would regularly watch Cal BB games on TV.

But I too have given up watching Cal Basketball. 1. IMO the coach doesn't know how to coach or recruit. Or just doesn't care. 2. The AD doesn't realize point number 1 or doesn't know how to improve the situation or just doesn't care.
So why should I care?

The day that those in power in the Cal athletic department hired Wyking Jones -- a person who CLEARLY had an unworthy resume -- it communicated to the Pac-12 and to the world that Cal was not willing or interested in competing with its peers. That is the day Cal basketball died: March 24, 2017. RIP. We're coming up on the six year anniversary. Over the past six years, Mike Williams has gained another 20 pounds, and has told more lies about his wrestling career. But the body just lies there. All Fox has done is kicked the corpse around a bit.

The 6th year anniversary gemstone is Amethyst. According to a computer I know:

If you accept the death of Cal basketball being 3/24/17, and you're smart enough to see the insanity of people like Knowlton saying things like "what a massive hole Coach Fox had to dig out of" (well, no ****, sherlock, Cal dug its own hole; the fact is that Cal is only like 7.5 years removed from having first round draft picks and an undefeated record at home, don't insult my intelligence you sack of ****), then perhaps Amethyst will be able to provide you with the spiritual healing to cope with your loss. Or, go see a therapist...it's been six years!! Deal with it. Because the people in power not only do not care that Cal basketball is not winning, they are not capable of leading it in the right direction even if they did care.

I don't know much about organizational structure, but clearly, there needs to be a type of committee in between the Chancellor and the AD, with powers over the AD, with a mandate to serve the interests of the athletic department. Because what we have now is an incestuous **** show.
