I missed The Play was still in JC at the time. So bummed!

Favorite (sports) memories:

1. 1986 Cal beat UCLA at Harmon Gym.
2. 2007 took my late father (Cal 1950) to the Cal-Tennessee game. We got to watch Cal issue a payback win over a big dog SEC team. After getting rolled in Knoxville we weren't sure how it would go, but we scrapped to a thrilling, electrifying victory.
3. Also 1984 a 2-8 or 2-9 Cal team knocked Stanford out of a bowl game on an inspired game led by Hardy Nickerson's defense. It was fun to watch and the furd fans were so despondent.

TV

1. Citrus Bowl Cal beat Clemson 1991
2. Cal beat Duke in the NCAA tournament 1992 - the Jason Kidd show as he dominated Bobby Hurley from sideline to sideline.
3. Cal vs. Michigan State. 2002. I was living in Boulder at the time, the Spartans were ranked 15th and Cal was unranked and not respected too much. I was at a sports bar and when they flashed the Cal score the place got quiet and there were a lot of murmurs. Then they switched to the Cal game and Cal was stomping Michigan State. It wasn't much, but I really enjoyed being a Cal fan that day.

I ran XC and track but was a lowly walk-on so I did not contribute much, but the experience was indelible and some of those memories nd friends I will cherish.

Loved watching Stoney Burke work the crowd by Dwinelle Hall. Best entertainer of the bunch of oddballs who permeated campus IMHO. He had a message that still tracks today, IMHO.

Inexperienced me (mid-1980s, lack of being a 'playa' probably helped) with just enough something going for me managed a threesome with two beautiful Cal women, which kind of broke my brain for the rest of the year. Seriously peaked.

Ugggghhhhhhhh, Cal Junkie, in the journalism profession, there is an expression "Don't bury the lede." I was scrolling through your comments until I hit your penultimate paragraph. My brain could barely register what I was reading.

You just posted a classic "I never knew these things could happen until it happened to me" comment, and you embedded it in such a way that I almost missed it. Nice try, player.

1968 v Syracuse. I was running the chains on the Cal side of the field. Ray Wilsey coaching. Ed White playing nose tackle. Larry Czonka running up the middle time after time. Ed White battles a double team play after play. Ed White stands up after a play and throws a punch at an offensive lineman. Flag, penalty, White leaves the field saying, "Coach, he bit me."

As this is football growls there are two games that come to mind.

1975 Big Game where Muncie went nutzoid at Stanford in our 48-15 win

1991 Win over U$C when we scored 52 points (I think the most at that time vs. U$C) in a 52-30 win.

The best of the best. I think, if I remember correctly, we had them down 49-30 and kicked a field goal to go over 50 and set a record against them. Normally, poor sportsmanship, but after years of getting butt kicked it was sooo sweet.
Don't want to burst your bubble, but Cal actually led in that game 52-14 before U$C scored 2 meaningless TDs and 2-point conversions in the 4th quarter. I remember that my best friend and I moved to the visitor side when it was 52-14 so we could get a better look at the $C song girls. With that score and that view, we agreed that the $C band didn't sound quite so bad.

Thanks for the correction. I suspect my recall was earlier when we were at 49 and the crowd and an even bigger lead, and the crowd went crazy to go over 50 vs. U$C. No if I missed on this one, I surrender. Maybe some of those memory pills.

I too was at that Penn State game. It was my freshman year. We were headed out of the stadium and stopped to watch the last play. Unbelievable!!

I am not sure but that might also have been the game the students in the student section ended up with food poisoning from the Orange Gremlins. A lot of really sick students for a couple of days.

Ah, yes. Northside co-op women. I romanced several including one whom I thought might be the love of my life - it turned out she was just a nut-case. Chalk that up as a 18-month exercise in character-building.

You should have gone to Med, Dent, Nursing, Pharm school on Parnassus Heights. The Pharm students titrated some pretty good additives for punch. Had a lotta punch.

Lots of girls in the Pharm School. They threw an awesome annual house party in SF back in the day. I had a friend from Hawaii attended and that was my in (and my friends). Jell-O shots at the door when you walked in…

Sometimes I wonder if this guy actually went to Haas or if he's just trolling us.

Comments like this make me feel this place is so insular.

I watched a couple from tightwad hill.

One of my favorite football games I attended, besides The Play, was the comeback win over Oregon in '93.

Two of my favorite bball games (I didn't attend either one) were the wins over Duke and #1 UCLA in '94.
This just in: Republicans find another whistleblower who claims Hillary's emails were proven to be on Hunter's laptop while Obama spied on tRump as he sat (shat?) upon his golden toilet. Gym Jordan afraid whistle blower may be in danger of abduction by aliens in cahoots with Democrats.
