It's Twitter which a lot of folks here think is BS but purportedly the Trees said no to the Big-12.

People trying to link Cal and Furd together are deluded. Stanford is wealthy, well connected, and has a national reputation that Cal does not unfortunately. Stanford may survive as an independent and likely join the B1G down the road at some point.

Cal should just drop all varsity sports and become an independent for fb and survive in that way until a decade later it drops fb too. Sad that we never made it back to the Rose Bowl.

There is a 0% chance Notre Dame is getting into a partnership with the Pac-4.
I would agree.

Especially since they are "only" getting $26 million a year from their contract with NBC out to 2024.
They are clearly looking for much GREENER pastures and a much BIGGER contract with NBC.
Word has it that they are looking for $60 million a year.
Maybe with NBC. Maybe with someone else.

They are looking for > 90 actually. The B1G schools are ostensibly getting 90. The ND NBC deal is worth 22M per/year and they have about another 11 of the ACC deal so they are currently bringing in ~ 33M and they want > $90M because - they are ND and they think they are worth it.

In the post I wrote about that, I said we should ask Apple just for grins what they'd pay. You are probably right, it wouldn't be enough. But if Apple wanted to make a splash and enter college streaming in a big way -- there'd be no better deal to make. Notre Dame fans are loyal, and it is easy to envision a 6 team conference (just for the sake of discussion - 6) in which Notre Dame joins the remaining Pac 4 and -- we'll say SMU. $200 per year for a streaming subscription gets you all of these 6 team's games. 1.5 million subscribers = $300M. ND gets $100M. The legacy PAC and SMU each get $30. Apple gets $50M. ND still gets to mostly keep its unique schedule. You say 0%. I'll say it's unlikely, but I'd "never say never."
