I really thought about the players not wanting to travel and wanting to stay home for family members to watch their games. By traveling across the country, family will not be able to travel. As such, being in the Bay Area, I believe we will keep a lot of kids otherwise who wanted to goto WA, OR, UCLA and USC.
With many kids wanting to stay home, we may not see immediate athletic success but but highly sought kids realizing they can only do so much traveling and getting back to their dorms at 4AM, I am willing to bet traveling will get pretty old very quick. It would be interesting to see what happens when the transfer portal reopens.
I feel like we must play up to our strengths:
Cal degree
Stay local
Power 5
Athletes mental health
Imagine this Pac 12:
Cal
Stanford
SDSU
Fresno State
WSU
OSU
UNLV
Boise State
Colorado State (Denver Market)
North Texas (Dallas Market)
Southern Methodist (Dallas Market)
Rice (Houston Market)
New Mexico State?
Nevada?
