Apologies if already discussed but any thoughts on divisions for the new ACC?

As to savoring this solution, I would add as the Buddhists say, wisely, nothing stays the same....Frankly I won't miss UCLA and SC and look forward to a # of new and interesting teams to play.

Everyone has a few protected "rivalries", ours will be Stanford & SMU (possibly one more). We'll play them every year. Then we rotate playing the rest of the ACC.

The ACC plays 8 conference games per season in football. My guess is that Stanford and SMU will be Cal's only "permanent football rivals", meaning that our Bears will play 3 home games and 3 road games each year vs. current ACC football teams.

The ACC plays 20 conference games in basketball. If the Bears play both Stanford and SMU twice each season, that means 8 basketball home games and 8 basketball road games each year vs. current ACC basketball teams.

I feel I'm in the minority but I still want the UCLA game. I do think that all of our new OOC opponents should be west of the mississippi.

I agree with this……maybe it should be 2 (home) / 1 (road) as a function of Calimony.

The wounds are going to take a while to heal. F UCLA for an indefinite period of time.

The question here isn't whether or not we want to play UCLA. Its whether or not UCLA wants to play us. If UCLA truly wants to play us, they can easily go to the regents and make it a condition of Calimony that we continue to play them. I highly doubt the regents would stop that, and assuming Cal actually gets anything from Calimony they would be foolish to turn it down to avoid playing UCLA out of spite.

USC isn't going to happen. They only have 2 OOC game slots per year available, and if they had to continue one rivalry its more likely they'd rather continue playing Stanford than us.

Once people get over the emotions I could see Cal and Stanford playing one of SC or UCLA every year. The Joe Roth game would be every other year.

I'd like to see our OOC scheduling be:

1. UCLA/USC
2. OSU/WSU
3. SDSU/Hawaii
4. Notre Dame
5. UC Davis/San Jose State/Sac State/Nevada/Cal Poly

Now that we have had a few hours to enjoy the relief of not totally being left out in the cold, we can take a look again at the "new ACC" schools on the map. This is some crazy stuff! And did I hear it is for all sports? Why not just the revenue sports? Nutty.

Good. If I never hear that damn SC band again, that will be too soon.

UCLA is not going to try to make future Cal-UCLA games a condition of Calimony.

UCLA is going to tell the regents that if they schedule Cal they shouldn't have to pay any Calimony. That is the strategy behind UCLA's AD saying he wants the Bruins to continue playing the Bears.
