Excerpt from L a Times:

"Dr. George Tyndall, the longtime USC campus gynecologist accused of sexual misconduct against a generation of women at the university, was found dead Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 76.

Tyndall's death forecloses a criminal trial set for next year. Scores of USC alumnae were expected to take the stand against him and testify to inappropriate touching and harassing remarks during gynecological exams at a campus health clinic."

As I recall, SC settled for a payout of $215 million in a class action suit on top of another settlement of $852 million for a total of $1.1 BILLION.

Tyndall was facing 29 criminal charges, including 18 counts of sexual assault and 11 of sexual battery.

That is the tragic lo$$ from the "fight on" perspective.

Pretty sure that many connected with the university are saying a quiet little prayer of thanks. They've already paid $1.1B and a public trial on dozens of counts of sexual abuse was not going to help. They're probably very happy to just quietly pay off claims and let this recede from the public's attention.

"Harry, it looks like someone just saved the taxpayers a lot of money."
-Lt. Neil Briggs, Magnum Force

*U$C paid a total of $1.1B in settlements relating to Dr. Tyndall. Why couldn't the good doctor have had the common decency to have made this decision after doing, let's say, $250M of harm?
*FUCLA got a bargain. It only had to pay $700B in settlements for theirs.

what a repugnant university, no doubt they were pulling the strings behind the delayed criminal charges against him. its a shame that a monster like him was allowed to walk freely. he should have died in prison.

Makes me relieved Cal Berkeley doesn't have a medical school. Yeah, it's a whole other level of revenues but liabilities too.

Did you just say . . . A lot of people actually do though we don't want to admit that statistic

No wonder U$C had to leave the PAC 12 for greener financial pastures. That demon costed them 14% of their endowment.
