Question about parking on football game days

How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's been 20 years since I've attended a game at Memorial but I plan on coming up for Parent's weekend.

I remember seeing a lot of parking signs that prohibit parking on many streets on game days. Do those restrictions apply all day or just in the hours before the game? With a 7p kickoff, will I still be able to park on, say, Euclid & Leconte from 10a-noon? There are a couple of the parent events on campus that I want to attend Saturday morning and my kid lives at Foothill.

Thanks in advance.

Also looking for a cheap ticket. I won't sit in the seat, so you won't have to talk to me.

Have a free Tix for you. It's in section C but will get you in the gate. pm me with 1st and last name and cell phone. The Cal Bears app requires that

From the City's website, looks like "gameday" parking enforcement rules are in effect beginning at 8am. Unless it says NO Parking (solid red lines on the map), I think the meter time limits are still ok, just either you will be towed or ticketed at higher levels depending on location for exceeding time limits.

It might be hard to read those parking signs by 7:00PM. The "Game Day" signs stop at Euclid. So park on Euclid or north of it and you'll be fine. I can usually find a spot on Spruce or Arch.

Euclid is a north-south street. Do you mean west of Euclid? Not sure the no parking on game day signs stop there. But I think that metered spaces are ok.

Arch was always a great option. Added bonus my grandfather lived at the top of Arch, so a game and a visit. He was Professor Emeritus Bacteriology way back in the day.

My mistake. I meant North of Cedar. No game-day signs on Cedar or any streets north of there.

Eric-App keeps saying, use valid cell phone number. 2nd try I made sure I hadnt entered your number wrong. I hadnt. It also said, or use email address. So if the no. is correct, pm me your email.
It's pretty later so I'll check for a pm in the morning.
Sorry I couldn't get it done.

Yes, I got 'help' from a fellow bear with free tickets when I posted my ticket question. I'm hoping to make a new friend at the game and not bug him too much. Unlike me he doesn't post here that I can see so I don't want to overwhelm him with my ramblings.

Well, if you're up for an adventure (and this place is still a valid place to park, been a few years for me) my wife and I park as far down on Fish Ranch road as we can and then walk down to Top Dog. It's actually nice and easy coming and going from Orinda, Lafayette, Concord, etc. The walk back may be a little dicey at 10 pm but what the hell.

Two miles I think. Fish Ranch is on the east side of memorial, top dog is on the west side. All downhill when you get there. And Fish Ranch parking is dependent on when you arrive, again depending on if it's still a 'thing' or not these days. The earlier you got there the farther down the hill you could park (ie. closer to the stadium).

I have a football parking pass for Underhill. What's the earliest I can park? I am thinking of checking out homecoming activities.

They say 3 hours but go there and park and put pass on the dash if you go earlier. I have done this.

I parked for free near Willard school on the street for Auburn (or paid a couple of bucks in a meter) to get past time cutoff… and walked up. It's easy exit to Telegraph then 24/580.

There is a parking pass for Underhill in the ticket exchange. $50. I have bought from him before. Can be emailed.

Yes, but I think you have to go inside to buy the parking ticket for a specific space. Remember the space number. Clumsy

Think it free and open on the weekends- the pay/space number deal is for prime hours weekdays. I parked in Rockridge BART for the Auburn game took a $10, 10 min uber to the stadium. Walked the whole way back after the game about 35 minutes

It's a long walk along College but a lot of people do it. Parking always used to be free at BART stations on weekends. Not sure if that's still the case.

it's an absurd long walk for no reason. And it's not free. The guy hasn't been to a game in 20 years and flashlights on Fish Ranch and hiking gear as suggestions? Park near Willard near the old Park and Rob. Or the Willard schools for $20.

That's my "secret" for having been to over 200 games at CMS (driven to most) and never once paid to park, nor had to hunt around too much for a space: I resign myself to a two-mile walk each way and call it my exercise for the day. I park on the SW side of campus, in pretty much the first spot I find, usually about 8-10 blocks from campus.

My mistake. I meant North of Cedar. No game-day signs on Cedar or any streets north of there.

How about just west of Shattuck, between Hearst and Cedar? The area had no gameday parking restrictions not that long ago (not sure about the current status though), and easy parking on weekends, and you can take the shuttle to the stadium on Oxford Circle or from Hearst near Spruce if you don't want to walk further or can't walk too much. The walk back is downhill, easy and pleasant through campus.

I used to live in the area and would have my Cal clique over for brunch before the games, never had a problem with street parking. Also, easy access from 80 through Cedar or Gilman, not much traffic even on gamedays, while southside is a mess.

exactly, Avoid the north side. Don't pay $50. Stay on the SW side of campus. Don't go to Rockridge but if you do go to Bart do Berkeley station and walk up. Spend 15 minutes walking to the game without flashlights and getting up to fish ranch (btw my dad would park near the clairmont as a a kid to see chuck and Steve play to save on parking)

Parking on Fish Ranch was a piece of cake. We even picked one too high but still good enough. Looks like plenty of street lights too. If I never post again we died on the walk back.

That's my neighborhood, and yes that will work. Haven't seen any game day signs west of Shattuck.
Parking was free nights and weekends at BART lots when I used to park at North Berkeley lot and take BART to Giants games but I haven't done that since before the pandemic so I don't know.

It really is the most convenient way to drive to the game, especially if you're coming from 80. Easy access with no traffic both ways, easy free parking and nice short walk or shuttle to the game if you don't want to walk. Bonus is lots of bars and eateries in the gourmet ghetto.

It doesn't have to be complicated.

I've been parking at the Allston Way garage every game day for $15. I've parked there for years. When you want to make a day of it with tailgating and pre-game festivities, it really couldn't be simpler.

Now, if you want to know the best place to park for arriving 30 minutes before kickoff, I can't help you. Just BART.
