ND-Furd on Pac-12 Network?

Holy cow, I just saw that the Notre Dame-Stanford game next week is on Pac-12 Network?! Why the hell is that game getting shunted over there? I don't even care about either school's coverage, but that's a crazy decision.

There's no way that is based on network preference. ESPN or Fox would absolutely want to carry any ND game because they always draw ratings. The conference grabbed that game for itself, the final parting "f*** you" to the college football world. Insane.

Just a hunch but I don't think ESPN or Fox even wanted this game because the Furd is so bad. If they wanted it I think they would have priority to show it. (I might be wrong on this one.)

Notre Dame draws huge ratings no matter who they play. I doubt those networks passed on this game.

I thought NBC had a contract to broadcast ALL of Notre Dame's games. Am I living in the past?

NBC has the rights to all Notre Dame home games only.

Home games. This game is at Stanford.

But traditionally, their road games tend to always get picked up by a major national network because Notre Dame draws eyeballs. It's weird that this one wasn't.

I remember when P12N was getting started that Larry Scott said he didn't want to make it just "Tier 3" content, that some premium games would be reserved for it. That makes it different from the other conferences who tend to keep their best content on the major networks and leave the remainder to the conference network. I bet that's what happened here: through whatever backdoor rules exist for Pac-12 media rights, this one had to go on Pac-12 Network.

Yet another example of how Larry didn't understand how to get good TV exposure.

I heard this during the broadcast, and nearly fell off my recliner! How this game fell to Pac-12 is truly amazing...and, as posted above, the Irish Subway fans are in for a rude awakening.
How bad things have gotten: One of the top recruits in Cal football history and a big non-revenue sports donor, and neither could watch the game because of where they live...let that sink in for a moment, and take a look at the Pac-12N in the rear view mirror....

I noticed yesterday that Dish is carrying the Pac12 network again (too little too late), so ND fans will probably watch that game at sports bars.

Or we'll see a lot of one-week signups for Fubo TV.

Honestly, there have been a number of bizarre Pac-12 broadcasting decisions this year that don't seem based on actual viewership numbers, UNLESS the Pac-12 Network is jealously guarding certain content for itself.

Like how Cal's games against Oregon and USC (teams you'd expect to draw good viewership) were on Pac-12 Network, but our game against WSU was on ESPN2 for some reason. That doesn't make sense unless ESPN was blocked from taking the Oregon or USC games in some way.

I'll be happy once the Pac-12 Network is gone. The only reason I haven't switched off of Comcast as my provider is because the only good streaming option for P12N (Fubo) doesn't carry the Turner channels (TNT and TBS), which is kind of bad for a service that promises to be the best sports provider. Once I can get the Cal games on ESPN networks I'm going to YouTube TV.

My guess is that one of the networks had reserved ND-Stan earlier in the year, and then decided recently to take a different game for Nov. 25 instead. For example, Fox might have reserved ND-Stan and then decided to "give it back" and televise the Apple Cup instead.

Agreed, teams with a shot at the CFP take priority. That means Washington or oregon.

F-'em.

Bob Davies in the broadcast booth played a part in us going from #4 in the BCS in 2004 to #5 when we beat Southern Miss in the hurricane make-up game in early December on the road. He and Mack Brown cost us the Rose Bowl.

Touchdown Jesus and all of their "friends" can go F-themselves.

Arizona vs ASU is going to be on ESPN. How is that a more desirable game?

Answer: it isn't. Something besides Fox/ESPN preference happened here. The Oregon and Washington games are also both on Fox (Oregon on Friday night), so clearly there is room for all of them.
