In the last 2 games -- since Ifanse and Thomas were injured at Oregon -- the cumulative rushing stats are:

Ott: 63 carries, 333 yards
Williams-Thomas: 3 carries, 7 yards

What happened to Ashton Stredick?

He fumbled too much and lost ground on the depth chart.

Agreed. But isn't there anyone else?

I absolutely love watching Ott but we should be giving him more breathers.

there's always the empty backfield. Seriously, what happened to Derue and Chapman?

Spavital made reference to an "unfortunate injury" to Derue in an interview a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully we can get him in the rotation next year with some production. A backfield of Ott, Cardwell, Dorue, Williams-Thomas and Javien Thomas would be a pretty good unit. The main thing we need is a productive 2nd guy. Right now there is a huge drop off after Ott.

Aren't both Thomass pretty productive and isn't at least one of them healthy right now?

I disagree. I like what I've seen from Williams Thomas. He's much bigger in person than I thought and runs downhill which I like. I think the bigger issue is the oline.
Ott is able to make it work with poor blocking against bad and mediocre fronts because he is shifty enough.
And ifanse did as well. But for a bigger back like Williams Thomas the run blocking really needs to get him a few blocks. Having 4 defenders unblocked at the point of attack 3 times out of 4 on designed runs inside is not cutting it

How many times last night did we see: nice gain on 1st down. Ott stuffed behind the LOS on 2nd, bringing up 3rd and long.

The number of RBs we've had injured for the year or at least multiple games, as mentioned by cal06 above, is unprecedented. Heck, even Ott missed, like what, a game and a half?

Cardwell: entire season
Doerue: entire season
Williams-Thomas: first half of season and still may not be 100%
Ifanse (my tackle-breaking guy!): last few games
The Jet: last few games with brutal injury

That's five scholarship players at a one-player position!

how fortunate for us that the best back missed the least time

Why? The ball is not heavy.

Isaiah Ifanse is a fantastic backfield partner for Jaydn Ott. It took multiple defenders to bring him down on just about every run. That kind of grit and determination was inspiring! I hope he recovers fully from whatever injury knocked him out.

Fullback? Hasn't at least one wr, te played rb?

spav must have at least two double wing pass plays to handle the de's with te's on the wings.
