LA Bowl (at SoFi Stadium) or Independence Bowl (Shreveport) appear to be the two in play - not sure what the factor will be that sends us to one or the other. Both are on December 16th so will either be in LA or Shreveport! GO BEARS!!

Did we also knock UCLA into a worse bowl game? That makes it a little sweeter

Independence seems more likely, but LA (Jimmy Kimmel) Bowl not out of the question.

It'll be the la bowl
The independence bowl is supposed to be byu vs a pac school this year but byu isn't bowl eligible

Not according to the Independence Bowl website - https://www.radiancetechnologiesindependencebowl.com/. The Independence Bowl is in Shreveport, LA.

The Independence Bowl is a Big-12 vs. Pac. 12 match-up. "The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl will return for its 47th edition on Saturday night, December 16 at 8:15 p.m. CT, matching up the Big 12 vs. the Pac-12!" See - https://www.radiancetechnologiesindependencebowl.com/game/

What do you know??? The 24/7 site has released updated bowl projections an hour ago and has Cal projected to play Louisiana in the First Responders Bowl (Dallas) https://247sports.com/longformarticle/college-football-bowl-projections-predictions-for-all-41-games-after-the-regular-season-221247616/#2313743 Well - one way or another all will become clear by December 3rd. GO BEARS!!

Not sure I'm a fan of bowl the day after Christmas. It will make for some difficult travel plans.

We have the same conference record as UCLA and beat them head to head.

Plus looking at this game if you are the la bowl why are you taking UCLA who might not even have a coach over cal?

I don't think we will know until they do bowl selections for sure....

It's not even a sure thing that UCLA would bring more fans to the LA bowl.

Louisiana? You mean Louisiana Lafayette? Is that the best opponent we can hope for?

I think it is more likely 6-6 Texas Tech in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport

Certainly not more traveling fans. Cal fans would show up in far greater numbers than any other fan base they can invite. Cal fans would be enthusiastic about the LA Bowl. UCLA fans? Not so much. Who is the likely MWC invite?

We are in a bowl for sure per this article. One 5-7 team will also make it in: Minnesota.

I'll be traveling to SoCal that day but, sadly I doubt I'll make the game. I have a pretty tight itinerary that involves other people. The best I can hope for is that the game is late enough to stream on my computer from my room at my destination in Ventura.

It's been awhile since I've we've been bowling, so I'm a little rusty. But if I remember, tv ratings is more important than number of fans. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Though I do agree, I think we could bring 20-25k to LA easy. Ucla wouldn't being more than 10K, especially if the chipper gets fired.

I would absolutely LOVE going to the LA bowl.

I'm fairly sure this is wrong.

The MW champ gets the invite to the L.A. Bowl. According to the links below, their championship game Dec. 2 will be between UNLV and either Boise St. or SJSU, to "be determined by computer rankings and announced the morning of Sunday, Nov. 26."

https://themw.com/news/2023/11/25/mw-football-championship-participants-host-to-be-announced-sunday/

https://mwwire.com/2023/11/25/mountain-west-championship-game-will-be-decided-by-computer-ratings/

EDIT: MWC championship game will be Boise State @UNLV, Saturday, Dec. 2, 12 p.m., FOX.

assuming USC qb williams sits out bowl game, is there a chance USC declines a Vegas bowl offer? Wishful thinking.

Likely Radiance Technologies (military intel) Bowl in Shrevport. Against a Big 12 opponent. Most likely Texas Tech, Iowa State or Kansas. Radiance Tech picks last and since we share same conf record as UCLA but they have a better overall record, they likely go to the Jimmy Kimmel bowl. Was looking at the attendance for this bowl. Be lucky if they get 30k for this game.

according to my kid in the marching band, "the entire band is supposed to go to the bowl game, no matter where it is."
if this in fact true, the 16th is BRUTAL. apparently a bulk of final exams take place on friday the 15th, many occuring in the evening for STEM classes. Also, winter graduation is Dec 16th at noon at Haas Pavilion.
Any bowl game NOT on the 16th would be ideal for the Cal Community. Am I a beggar? Yes. Am I a chooser? Yes.
