Nobody is defending the media corporations. That is a red herring.

Florida State is trying to get out of the contract it signed with the ACC.
It is in our interest that the status quo remains. That the ACC survive. As such, that is why many of you are hoping that FSU's lawsuit gets tossed and are subsequently siding with the ACC and their payor, ESPN.

I think that is projection. I am not talking about what I want (it is irrelevant).

I don't know what is in other people's head (neither do you) but the reason I am saying FSU can't get out of a contract just because they want to is because that is how contracts work.

As for what I want? Cal is only getting $10 million next year from the ACC media contract. I would love to see college football reconstituted with Cal again playing our traditional rivals on the West Coast. If the B1G decides to expand on the West Coast in the future, I would want Cal to be able to be part of that. However, Cal has signed away our GORs through 2036 and I understand how contracts work. We couldn't get out of our contract just because I want us out.

I also said, I am fine with FSU leaving if they pay the hefty exit fees as per the contract. I have no attachment to FSU being in the ACC. The ACC is not going to fall apart just because FSU leaves.

Yes, and it seems to consistently be in your interest that Cal get screwed. Interesting, that.

But honestly, in this case it doesn't really matter where I "side." The fact is that every school that has signed on to be in the ACC did so with the expectation that the rest of the members would be there through 2036, because that's what the contract says. Why are you arguing that people should just break their agreements because they feel bad about them?
sycasey i'm just trying to offer a dose of reality. I don't want us to get screwed. I'm not arguing that FSU should just unilaterally say "we're leaving so eff off". I feel that they have a right, and yes they do, to litigate to get out of a bad deal. And it is a bad deal for them and Clemson. I'm not saying they're going to win. I'm merely saying they have a case. You're not even saying that! You're pretty much saying, "they signed. They have to live with it. No right to sue. Live with it!". What kind of world is that?

All I'm saying is that they have a right to ligitigate and I think they have a case. I would say that FSU is probably looking to settle. That's it. No more. No less.

Well, your earlier posts on this thread basically say that you think ACC won't last beyond 2027 or 2029. So it seems like you think FSU will win, since that is basically the mechanism by which such a collapse would happen. You changed your mind?
