I stumbled across this earlier today. Notre Dame opens the season at Texas AM and ends their season with their traditional Thanksgiving weekend game in California (this time against USC). Other than a week 3 game at nearby Purdue, ALL of their games are at home.

That is 9 home games, and they only have to leave their home state the first and last week of the year.

I'm counting 6 at home, 3 away, and 3 neutral site. 2 of those neutral site games (Navy annd Army) are under their own NBC TV contract, one is under the ACC contract (GT).

Nothing wrong with ND's schedule other than it includes a couple of tomato cans from the MAC early on.

- ND plays 6 home games on campus
- ND plays 6 on the road
- As @ColoradoBear notes, of the 6 on the road, 3 are neutral site games because....
- Georgia Tech wanted to play its home game vs. the Irish in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium
- Navy wanted to play its home game vs. ND at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey's Meadowlands
- The Army game vs. ND was a compromise between the schools to revisit the tradition of those 2 playing at Yankee Stadium.

Meanwhile, Ohio State has 8 of its 12 games played in the Horseshoe, and Michigan has 8 of its 12 games played in the Big House, including 5 home games in a row to open the season.

I am counting 6 away games.

To me, a neutral site still counts as an away game. For instance last year, Cal BB played in OC at a "neutral" site. To me, that was more of an away game than a home game.

Navy and Georgia Tech decided to play their home games vs. ND at NFL stadiums to sell more tickets and make more money than they would make playing at their home stadiums.

Navy plays a "home" game against ND every other year, and every one of them has been played at a neutral site (with Navy getting the revenue). Also, Navy has the TV rights to their home games vs. ND, and this year's game will be on ESPN or ABC, per https://fbschedules.com/2024-notre-dame-football-schedule/ .

Take a look at Ucla's schedule from last season if you really want to laugh. This season will be...different.

Please give to Cal Legends at https://calegends.com/calegendsdonate/donate-football/ and encourage everyone you know who loves Cal sports to do it too.

To be in the Top 1% of all NIL collectives we only need around 10% of alumni to give $300 per year. Please help spread the word. "If we don't broaden this base we're dead." - Sebastabear

Thanks for reading my sig! Please consider copying or adapting it and using it on all of your posts too. Go Bears!

They don't have 6 winnable games on their schedule. That is probably the #1 reason why Chip Kelly bailed out of there.

Which isn't too different from every power conference team.

As has been noted, the GT and Navy games are road games moved to "neutral" site stadiums. Playing GT in Atlanta is still definitely a road game though. They will have to travel for that game and Army and Navy. It's a fair schedule.
