Absolutely! Wilcox has demonstrated that he needs all the help he can get to field a decent and competitive offense. Unfortunately, I don't think that Wilcox's ego will allow him to do it.01Bear said:
Wilcox should reach out to Tedford and ask him to be an offensive guru/advisor. Tedford may not be able to be a full time head coach of a football program, but he can probably still be an advisor to football coaches. Wilcox should absolutely reach out to him for assistance.

Tedford came and addressed the team several years ago, before his latest Fresno gig. Was that during Wilcox's time or before? Anyone remember?

2026 or 2031 would be a good time, commemorating the 20th/25th anniversary of the only Cal Football team to finish first in the Pac in your lifetime, in the stadium that Tedford built. Without the success he has brought to the program, the stadium project would have been so much more difficult to achieve.

It is unfortunate that he was unable to discover the key to better work/life balance. I remember reading that he would sleep 2-3 hours a night, in his office, during the season. Unhealthy in a number of ways, as well as for his family. I admire the drive and ambition, however it doesn't seem like it was worth it in the end, although he's the only one who can say if it was or not. In any event, he was a good coach, and has always seemed like a decent person, something his players all seem to believe as well. He had the best run of any Cal coach in my lifetime and his teams, at least in the early to mid stages of his tenure, were great fun to watch. I hope he gets into the Cal HOF in the very near future. A similar situation to the issues Pete Newell faced. He had to retire at the absolute zenith of his career due to the pressure he put on himself. Two great coaches who burned themselves out.
