This is a booth from BearGreg on the basketball board but since this board is generally more active I thought it couldn't hurt in case any of you, and/or anyone you know, wanted to give to help land a franchise altering recruit for Madsen's program. His name is Isaiah Harwell and he would be the first consensus top 10 basketball recruit at Cal since Jaylen Brown (and 2nd highest rated HS recruit to Cal in the recruiting service era).

**He's scheduled to commit in almost exactly a month (on Sept. 12th)** and we're firmly in the running but it will take a competitive NIL offer for a 5* player because that's the reality of this era of sports. So if you're also a basketball fan, have friends who are, love when Cal sports are good, or believe Cal should be great in all things, then give what you can and spread the word so we can go into the ACC and compete at what they do best! Let's be honest - Cal doesn't need to pay him what he is worth, Cal will need to overpay to beat out any "legacy" basketball schools. And honestly, I don't have a problem overpaying if it can help us get our foot in the door to being competitive in the ACC. Go get him MM!

I don't think we have to overpay. I think it's a similar situation to Jaydn Ott, JKS (our 4* QB commit who shined at the elite11 camp), or Jovani Ruff (4* basketball commit) where they like The University of California and want to be here but just need a competitive offer in the same ballpark as their other offers. If it was 100k from us compared to 500k from someone else or 500k from us to 1MM+ from someone else then of course they're taking other offers but if it's a reasonable difference it seems like he really wants to be here

Just thinking outside the box here… why not allow refundable donations contingent upon landing a certain player? Seems like it's only upside with no downside.
