DJ Uiagalelei having a big game against us (again) and FSU scoring 35 is not really hyperbole, we will need to score quite a bit in Tallahassee and will only have a good chance of pulling it out if FSU overlooks us as much as this guy does.

you have to really be paying attention to notice our portal class combined with the late season surge last year (ahem, excluding a certain bowl game). FSU fans are thinking about their exit from the acc and their playoff run this year, not some new conference member who they've never seen on tv.

of course, that can work to our advantage if things gel. i think we'll know pretty early on in the auburn game if the FSU game will be competitive.

Think now the cocky-ass author needs to tone down his dismissive blowout prediction, after being smacked by GT. Blowout may still happen but no need to be a jerk about it before a game has even been played. Cal = or > than GT.

I guess my displeasure is with southern football media, and I guess southern maga type media in general.
It's completely devoid of evidence based arguments.
In this case dude doesn't even say "I'm very unimpressed by the moves Cal made along the offensive and defensive lines. He just skips right into saying "cal sucks we will clown stomp them" and when we actually clown stomp them instead he'll probably spam post an article proclaiming fSU isn't good so therefore we still aren't good.
In the political sphere it's "I'm more patriotic than you are because I follow a draft dodger cult leader and you aren't because you're a Californian. Doesn't matter if you served your country for 8 years after Cal to make an o4 salary despite multiple 200kish job offers and work for a governmental agency advocating for at risk youth. I'm a southern jackass therefore I'm more patriotic."
Long story short in politics and football these people don't respect me. And I don't respect them either. I think they are the scum of the earth. Haas type "confidence without attitude" doesn't work against them. They just troll more. So my MO is to call them out with vicious prejudice.

Preseason CF predictions are a lot about the "brands". I don't think any of the 5 ESPN Gameday panelists picked GT to upset FSU.

I am not a gambler, but if I were, I would focus on early season games with upset potential like that one.

FSU will likely still contend for the conference title, they might have been more vulnerable early in the season because DJU hasn't played with their system and personnel.

FSU is still eating crow after getting slobberknocked by Georgia 63-3, then traveling 4082 miles to lose to an underdog GT.

Let's let them gnash their teeth about what could have been until we come to town on Sept 21! I think DJU is the type of QB that our D can get after.

Did you repress the memory of last season's OSU game? Sirmin defenses have often provided career days for opposing QBs, but DJU was on another level that game.

It will be interesting to see how DJU fares in the weeks before our game, he didn't have a good game in Dublin.

He was very ordinary for sure. But IMO the loss was more due to GaTech outplaying FSU on both sides of the LOS.

The play calling for FSU was conservative and the FSU skill players are not of the same caliber as last season. The defense had trouble with the GaTech OL. GaTech was ready to go and had a chip on their shoulder with all this FSU lawsuit stuff.

It seems very likely that FSU is likley overrated for 2024 and GaTech underrated. But I would still expect the Cal /FSU game to be very tough for the Bears. Not impossible but difficult. Not sure the Cal OL will be able to move the FSU defense around like GaTech did. Especially at FSU.

But QB play is always important he will need to improve. Just hope any improvement comes after Sept 21.
