How many ranked opponents will Cal play this year?

The top of the ACC (minus Miami) has crumbled early in the season:

Florida State lost twice.
NC State looked bad in their opener and then got beat badly by Tennessee.
SMU looks bad.
Stanford is still rebuilding.
Wake lost to Virginia.
Pitt has been all over the place.
Syracuse looks vastly improved, and might enter the top 25 by November if they keep this up.

In my opinion, it is probable that Cal will play (1) team while they are ranked, and that one team is Miami.

Depends if you mean when we play them or at the end of the season.

I think NC state will finish ranked and Syracuse might be ranked at some point but vastly easily schedule this year.

The schedule is soft…and next year is *probably* softer. But, Syracuse just beat GA Tech, who was ranked…because they beat FSU, who was ranked.

Do you mean ranked at any time or ranked when they play Cal?

Syracuse will probably be undefeated when they come to Berkeley, their upcoming schedule is just as soft as ours

Don't tell a certain poster but that could be a potential College Gameday.

Interesting "What ifs":
What might Cal's record be if the PAC-12 continued?
What if we were in the B1G this year?

I do think, other than the financial hit, getting into the ACC really has been a godsend for Wilcox and Cal football.

Agree, kinda. The $$$ is THE thing so "other than the financial hit" isn't particularly convincing for me, but I have no idea if we are any good, and still don't see a reasonable path to less than 7 wins because the ACC is BASURA.

We can be decidedly mediocre and still win 9.
