My "Magic 8 Ball," (come on, some of you must remember those), is to blame for my dismal 4-7 record last week, bringing my season to 14-15. Last week is here: https://bearinsider.com/forums/2/topics/122115
Trying again with the usual drill, odds are for the home team, my clueless picks in italics.

San Diego State @ Cal -19: Perfect scenario for Cal's annual *** game. Bears riding high after a huge win, (and please let Auburn be decent at least for the rest of the year), not so good opponent, and another big game for Cal next week. Taking the Bears to keep it together and win, but not cover.

Memphis @ Florida State -8: Hoping FSU bumbles a couple more weeks, until after they play Cal. Expect them to win but not cover.

Boston College @ Missouri -16.5: Mizzoo is good but not good enough to cover the spread.

Ball State @ Miami -36.5: Large spread, but Hurricanes have the firepower to cover.

West Virginia @ Pittsburgh +2.5: Two evenly matched teams. Going to give Pitt enough of a home advantage to beat the spread.

UConn @ Duke -16.5: Fans stop memorizing the basketball roster long enough to watch their football team cover.

Virginia Tech @ Old Dominion +14: Old Dominion hangs tough for a while but can't beat the spread.

Ole Miss @ Wake Forest +23: Lame Kitten's (for old times sake), team hasn't played world beaters but still looks awfully good. Rebels cover.

Maryland @ Virginia +2.5: Should be a close game with Virginia beating the spread in the end.

NL games are VMI @ Georgia Tech and North Carolina @ North Carolina.

Bye is getting ganged up on by Syracuse, Louisville, SMU, Clemson and Furd.

You don't think FSU will cover? After being clowned for three weeks straight including their bye week where they lost some blue chip recruits, I think they are out for blood and win by 14

6-5 last week, and now 13-14. Stuck in the middle.

SDSU and taking points. My guess is this is another UC Davis type ugly win, with a lot of banged-up guys not playing or playing very little.
FSU and give points. FSU portal roster finally gets its act together against a weaker opponent
BC and take points.
Miami and give points in a high scoring game
Pitt and taking points. "Backyard Brawl" s/b a close game - going with the home team
Duke and giving points: Like Duke to cover at home against basketball rival UConn
VT and giving points. Not sure on this one. VaTech has not looked sharp and OD is not good
Wake and take points. Ole Miss clealry is good, but how good? That is big line against a mediocre power conference team at their home.
Maryland and giving points. Line makes it a coin flip, but I think Terps pull away at the end and win by 3 or more. .

Huh - I must have used slightly different lines than everyone else because I had a tie in there. Syracuse -3 vs. Georgia Tech was a push. I went 6-4-1 last week by my count, and 15-12-1 cumulative. I'll make sure to use UrsusTexicanus' posted lines from here on out.

Edited to add: below, WIAF says Cuse was +3, in which case, since I picked them, I'll take that as a win. So 7-4 last week and 16-12 cumulative!

Time to give that slight winning margin all away, since I have no clue for most of this week's matchups. Nevertheless, here goes:

San Diego State +19 @ Cal - hoping the Bears dominate, but thinking it is a sandwich game and may be a low-scoring dud
Memphis +8 @ Florida State - I was actually going to pick FSU here, but going with my irrational rule of always picking against FSU, Clemson and UNC this season, screw FSU.
Boston College +16.5 @ Missouri
Miami -36.5 vs. Ball State
Pittsburgh +2.5 vs. West Virginia
Duke -16.5 vs. UConn
Old Dominion +14 vs. Virginia Tech
Wake Forest +23 vs. Ole Miss
Maryland -2.5 @ Virginia

Cuse was plus 3, not minus 3. I think we all lost on that one.

They were? I picked Syracuse -3, so I'll take that as a win if they were +3.
