What exactly are the other orange areas? I assume the large one is the 'pit' behind the stage?

Can't find the post claiming DeSean Jackson's Cal punt return for a touchdown I(against Tennessee?) is the greatest football play in Cal football history.

But the compiiation below of the top 100 college football plays of all time does not include it. But it lists The Play as Number 1 college football play of all time.

Rece Davis said he will come out and interact with the crowd well before 6am to get them fired up.

Not a morning person: I could gladly handle something like this once every few years... and Rece Davis does it every Saturday in the fall?!? I guess when you're being highly compensated, it makes a difference. Dude must have a flexible biological clock though.
Hell, all of those guys. Kirk Hebstreit does it and then sometimes flies to another location to call a game that night!

For NFL, the Misic City Miracle is pretty close.

For NCAA, I would say the Boise State tostitos bowl win and finish were close as well. The game may have even been better overall because they did it like 3 times! And the Kick Six at Auburn was also close. They're all tops on my list but of course the Play is the greatest of all times.

One of the most successful people I know starts out every morning for the last 30 years with espresso and a bong hit.

I just wanted to make sure I understood this correctly, in the Cal email regarding attending Gameday, they mention:

WHAT TO BRING: Fans in attendance must follow the University's prohibited items policy. In addition, ESPN's security team will screen fans as they enter the pit, as the following items are prohibited within the pit: bags (of any kind), food and drinks, pens, pencils, markers, dry erase boards, and signs that do not adhere to ESPN's sign policy.

I was planning to have a small backpack with me. Under Cal's prohibited items they include no backpacks. Is this only meant for the Pit? I probably won't get there early enough to be in the Pit but wanted to be at Memorial Glade to take in the scene around 5-530am.

Correct, just the Pit.

Question for folks planning to go to Gameday and the game but live too far away to go home in between: any plans in the downtime between events? Unfortunately there are no other Cal sports in Berkeley that day. I'm sure my group can find ways to entertain ourselves for a few hours (Raleigh's opens at 10am!), but I wonder if anyone knows of events or activities that aren't on my radar.

The early Gameday show and the late kickoff time might be a blessing in disguise. It's going to be hot this weekend!

I've never felt more confident about a big game than I do now. I'm still nervous, but I think we can win this. The nerves were high at fsu and it showed. We lost. It's over. Now we have nothing to lose. I actually think we have a much better shot now than if we were 4-0 and we probably lose if we are 4-0 due to crazy nerves, but now we just play our game an I think we pull it off. It really is a great time to be a bear.

Florida State is bad enough that a so-so game is enough to get past (or dominate) them, kicking and endzone execution killed us but we were 12 yards away at the end, versus Miami we will play fast and loose because that is the only way to beat a team as good as they are.

Yeah, I don't get the equating the two Florida schools. Miami is 5-0 and ranked. They beat Florida 41-17 in Gainesville. They are the #2 offense in the country in yards and in points.

Florida State would be 0-5 if we had played a little better or made FGs. We were in the Red Zone 6 times but only managed 9 pts. SMU just beat them 42-16. They are the #126 scoring offense in the country at 15.2 ppg and are #125 in yards per game (278). Right now they count as a bad loss.

Miami is no FSU. We do get them at home, but we are going to need Bloesch to call a far better game than we have yet seen from him (hopefully the bye helped) and we are going to need to defense to come up big in takeaways, just to keep it close.

Thanks. I foresee a lot of time at the bar(s) on Saturday. There are worse things.

I don't think Wilcox has "fast and loose" in his playbook or his DNA. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it. As much as I hate it, I suspect we will see lots of Jaydn Ott running into the middle of the formidable Miami defensive line for 0 to 2 yards and many sacks of poor Nando.

I'll be there. Not sure when. 5? 5:30? Hope to run into some of you. It's gonna be a marathon of a Saturday hopefully ending in a Cal dub.

. I'm in also although I doubt I'll make the pit. I'm struck by the once in a life time meme. And as I tell people - Bear fan since Kapp, the player.

Last week, Kirk Herstreit visited the Gameday location in Tuscaloose on Friday, then flew home to watch his son's high school game, then flew back to Tuscaloosa for Gameday.

This week, he isn't flying from Atlanta to Berkeley to home to Berkeley.

Instead, he'll touch down at 4 am. Do Gameday, then fly to Arkansas.

I don't think the Blue Angels are here yet, but I did see a C-130 flying overhead yesterday over the Marina
