Been a while since I've visited this site. (Shaw took the life out of my fandom and I'm still recovering.) Just wanna say that was the worst non-call I've seen in recent memory. My son and I were stunned it wasn't called in the moment or upon review. From the outside looking in, I'm not too sold on Wilcox and his staff (nor on Taylor and his), but that's beside the point. Egregious.

Second worst, AlbanyCard. The worst was in the 2013 Big Game, when Cheater Skov launched himself crown first into Jared Goff, who, at the time, was defenseless in the pocket.

Thanks for the support though! And I think it bears mentioning that most all of us dislike you guys a little bit less since the demise of the Pac 12.

Go Bears!

We lost that game by 50, why do people around here ***** about this? Does throwing Skov out change anything?

If the question was "most-impactful non-call", I agree, it was If the question was "most blatant, dangerous non-call"*, I gotta give it to Skov in 2013. Doesn't change anything, but what does?

* and that's why I still ***** about it

Well it didn't, Goff is throwing his way to Canton and Skov is...somewhere else, so again why continue to ***** about this a decade later

I don't remember the outcome of the OSU game when Best got knocked out. Were you in the stands saying "whats everyone worried about? We scored!'

That wasn't an illegal or even dirty hit, but normal humans don't just shrug and move on.

I also can't remember the outcome when strang got obliterated on a fair catch. I'm still angry they did that, but he got ejected.

Sometimes the outcome is not what we're talking about... Sometimes someone on the field is injured by an illegal hit, not having any consequences for the ******* who did it is enough.

Because it establishes a patern.

Apparently ****ting on Cal with attrocious officiating is just par for the course.

Textbook definition targetting Cal players? AOK (X2!)
Making up offsides that never happened? Go for it!
Incorrectly call 4 turnovers on the field, 3 of which are overturned (including taking 6 off the board), sure why not?
Phantom PI that never happened in the end zone to extend a drive? Sounds good.

When was the last time we had egregiously bad calls go in our favor to help determine the outcome of a game? Beatting Notre Dame in 2022, Auburn last year, Miami this year....all would have been big. At least 2 of those penalties there is no explanation for whatsoever. None. Just complete BS.

Sure, Cal could have won those games despite the refs, but we shouldn't have to, and we shouldn't have to consistently.

It was 35-10 but on that play Goff had completed a 62 yard pass to Richard Rodgers getting us to the Stanford 30 when: 1) Skov's late hit well after the throw took Goff out of the game and 2) an "unnecessary roughness" penalty was called…on Cal's Darius Powe!

If Goff was not knocked out of the game it is 17-35 mid way through the 2nd quarter. Instead we played the majority of the game with Zach Kline and Austin Hinder at QB. That one play ended our chances and the rout was on. With Goff out we got zero yards and settled for the FG, then never scored again, never even getting in FG range again.

It is true we almost certainly still lose the game with Goff as that was a Rose Bowl Stanford team but the hit was ridiculously late and egregious, with Cal's medical team coming out, and the added outrage of a penalty on the play for "unnecessary roughness" called on a Cal WR!

It isn't the losses to Stanford those years, it was the ridiculousness of the PAC-12 refs and Review Booth's obvious favoring of Stanford to win big against us to get them into the BCS. The next year was even more ridiculous.

RPO ball snapped at the 5, fake run, Cam Ward has just released ball to his left. 73 cannot be that far downfield on a pass.

Not called.

amusingly i met Follett at gameday, and had specifically rewatched the game the day before. I asked him how many flags he thought would have been thrown on it today and he laughed saying he never would have made it through a full game with today's rules

Loved the way he played, but unfortunately, I think it limited his career as well due to injuries.

I only played one year of football. High school, age 13. We were taught in 1972 to 'turtle our head' and drive right thru the sternum of the runner. Blocking too. I have no idea how they teach tackling now. There is always been a part of me that wishes I played all four years of highschool. There is another part of me that is glad I chose golf. I think I'm a bit healthier.

Good commentary. You are absolutely right about the coaching strategy just killing us. Horrible. However, it's
also allowed to be extremely ticked off about the non-call.
It was one of a series of plays (and there were many) that
could easily have changed the outcome of the game.
It was blatant. It was potentially dangerous. It should have been called. Period.
