The main reason we're in the situation we are in now is precisely because we've won just enough games for Wilcox to keep his job. Had we turned in a bunch of 1-11 seasons earlier, we could have excised ourselves from this coaching staff years ago and not wasted the talent that we have out on the field.

What should we be a fan of? Continued mediocrity (if even that) or long-term sustained success even at the cost of some short-term pain?

Are you sure about that. Knowlton was giving out extensions during Covid like Oprah gave out cars.

Unfortunately, our leadership has shown a willingness to reward mediocrity, so as long as Wilcox can get 6 wins and get invited to some third rate bowl game, he will keep this job as long as he wants. The only way we have a shot at a new coaching staff is if we crater out and lose the rest of our games, which is sadly what I hope happens. Sucks to admit that, but sucks worse to have to watch this garbage coaching every week.

Yeah exactly. Wilcox would be coaching us in the Pac3 if we had those seasons.

Does anyone even think if lost every remaining game we would fire him?

I will continue to root for the team for the players' sake, maybe we will play a team poor enough for them to overcome the coaching. Our next three games are against pretty meh coaches, still better then Wilcox- but the coaching disadvantage won't be as massive.

I would never root for losses but definitely expected this ugly 3 game stretch. Don't think we will win all the 'easy' games either, certainly not Syracuse
