Justin Wilcox is tied with PJ Fleck for 13th longest tenured coach in Div 1 (power conferences only, 21st in all D1).

Among those he has by far the lowest win% at 0.459. The next lowest is Dave Clawson at Wake Forest with a 65-65 record (a school we've been compared to in football but even they demand better).

Almost all others have 60%+ WL with the top 7 above 70%. Even if you include all D1, he is the third lowest only to a couple of MAC coaches.

Here is the list sorted by w/l.. mostly pretty elite names.

Kirby Smart
Dabo Swinney
James Franklin
Mike Gundy
Kyle Whittingham
Kirk Ferentz
Kalani Sitake
P. J. Fleck
Pat Narduzzi
Dave Doeren
Matt Campbell
Mark Stoops
Dave Clawson
Justin Wilcox

Bottom line: when your coach sucks, they get fired. Except at Cal.

(Fun fact: Forgetting longest tenured for a second, if you exclude coaches in their first season, only 5 coaches in ALL of D1 P4 have a worse WL record then Wilcox.)

How much are we paying per win?

Nice stat and good point. Unbelievable that we allow this. Actually it's believable because it's Cal.

Also who is Ryan Coe's backup? Can he be 'fired' yet?

I just think it demolishes the idea that programs like ours accept less. There's a lot of crappy football programs out there, but none of them keep a coach very long if they lose this much. None of them.

I think it's generous to let him pad his record with wins against weak teams. Against Power 5 teams, the only thing that really counts, I have it as 29-42, or a .408 winning percentage. Pathetic. Just step down, Justin.
