I just have to ask....
Is anyone surprised?
Over the years Cal has mastered the ability to self inflict their own demise. And although I can appreciate the idea of playing the NIL game to try and bolster Wilcox into a winner, Cal's inherent institutional problems, not to mention Wilcox himself, has predictably marginalized those efforts.
Honestly, Knowlton and Wilcox are symptoms of a bigger disease. Until Cal and alums who fund this malaise start addressing the basics of running a viable IAD, everyone who wants to see Cal be successful is just pissing in the wind.
Athletics, like it or not, is the most visible way for people to engage with a University.
College Gameday was a monumental tell as to how much the students thirst for a viable football program.
So Rich Lyons what say you?
