Very unlikely we will beat SMU to beating Stanford is the only way we can get to six wins.

Our offense has: Jaydn Ott, Jaivian Thomas, Trond Grizzell, Nyziah Hunter, Kyion Grayes, Mason Starling, Mikey Matthews, Tobias Merriweather, Corey Dyches, and Jack Endries.
I know the OL is bad (maybe we should have someone coaching that area, but that's just me) but not being able to scheme up some kind of offense with that level of talent is just unacceptable. Wilcox is like Dykes, doesn't care about one side of the ball and will NEVER have competence on that side.

I'm not at all a fan of Wilcox but I am a fan of achieving whatever is best to help out Cal's football program. Playing in as many bowl games helps achieve that result.
BTW, Syracuse's QB was ranked #5 in overall football stats before playing Cal and those stats showed Mendoza was ranked #20. Was really impressed with him. He's a sure pro.
Wish we could have the Syracuse head coach coaching Cal. Knows his stuff and seems like a cool guy.

I hate to say it, but I hope we lose these last two games. Getting to a bowl, even the bottom of the barrel bowl we'd get with six wins, would in some small way validate Wilcox's year. We need to fail enough for our inept leadership to fire him.

Welcome to the club! It's actually not bad as a fan; either we win and we get a (guilty) shot of dopamine, or we lose and Wilcox gets closer and closer to getting pushed out.
The team's performance on Sat raised questions of whether Wilcox has lost the team. Sure looked like it. If so, he's GOT to go, but we can't let Knowlton pick his successor - he'd pick the path of least resistance, least controversy and least effort on his part.falseintellect said:pingpong2 said:

Most likely we get the worst of both worlds. We lose both and we're stuck watching another 4-6 win team stink it up next year with the worst coach in FBS
Please let the team know that too! The seniors especially need to know we have given up on them.oskidunker said:falseintellect said:

Yep, so lets throw the team under the bus after all their work and years in the program because you dislike Wilcox. Spoken truly by a person who doesn't care about the players themselves.CalConor said:

Brown was seen by many as the best off-season coaching promotion and hire (people who know something, not just message board types.)Gobears49 said:

by that line of thinking a coach would never be fired. most if not all those players are paid more than most of us. they know what's going on and understand the environment in which they have chosen to operate.72CalBear said:Yep, so lets throw the team under the bus after all their work and years in the program because you dislike Wilcox. we talk about the offensive line being the reason for losing. look at what the other teams are scoring. it is our defense that is bad. 3rd and long and 4th down stops. what are those for this team. poor defensive calling by Sirmon. they are like Dr. Hyde and Mr. Jekyll . painfully badddd!! you can castigate me all you want, but for me it is my humble opinion. 60 years of watching Cal Football and donating small amounts every year with season tickets. But i guess i will still root for Cal and hope we get a better coach and team for the the future.

It's not that we've given up on them, it's that they seem to have given up on their head coach. Maybe they've even given up on themselves. They sure looked like it on Saturday. Just too many mistakes.72CalBear said:Please let the team know that too! The seniors especially need to know we have given up on them.oskidunker said:falseintellect said:

I agree with this. I want clarity. 5-7 will force Lyons and Knollton to either do something, or admit they don't really care, in which case I can stop investing the mental energy as well.

I agree, but I want them to have no cover. There are no excuses you can make for this roster going 5-7. Most likely, I'll be giving up my season tickets, just going to games when the weather is good and I don't have anything better to do, and not worry about the outcome. I'm tired of suffering.

Watching the first half this past Saturday was infuriating but the hill did provide some serenity at leastcalumnus said:I watched the final two years of Holmoe from Tightwad, self-medicating and enjoying the beautiful view when the scene on the field got too ugly.Strykur said:I am gone until Wilcox is, after Saturday anywayoskidunker said:I did not renew few years ago but was thinking about reupping .
