Okay, but how to spin this in favor of Wilcox's coaching prowess?

So, yesterday wasn't *all* bad....Miami lost.

btw: Former Pac12 teams are poised to win the B1G and the Big12 in their first year in their new conferences. Interesting,

Former Pac member set to win the B1G (Oregon)
Former Pac member set to win the Big12 (Arizona State)
Former Big12 member set to win the SEC (Texas)
Former America Conference member set to win the ACC (SMU)

Maybe our ideas of conference rankings were bollocks all along.

I'd still like to see the conferences go at eachother top to bottom rather than the bowl games.

Top 3 members of each conference either go to the playoffs or match up in a bowl game. Then from there you match up the conferences 1:1

4v4
5v5
6v6
etc.

Rotate which conferences play eachother each post season. It would be a lot more entertaining than bowl games and would give conferce pride more meaning.

"You may have the better playoff teams but our middle is much stronger than yours!"
"Even the bottom of our conference isn't an easy out like yours!"
etc.

No respect for a close win.

Obviously there is going to be pro-Bama bias here, but in fairness . . . they do have better wins than anyone behind them.

Now, if SMU loses and falls behind them that will be a pretty interesting precedent: it would mean that SMU would have literally been better off not playing the championship game.

There is zero chance SMU drops out at 11-2 having to play an extra game and gets replaced with a 3 loss team. Zero.

"Wilcox blew a 25 point lead over Miami but later came within 8 of overcoming a 26 point deficit against Syracuse = massive improvement, extend him six more years"?
