I just saw that 247sports has a new crystal ball pick in predicting that Justin Hasenheutl will flip to us on signing day. He's a 6-5 and 300lb OG out of Georgia (originally from Germany) who's currently committed to Georgia Tech. Landing him and a couple more guys like him would be a huge boost to the trenches and sorely needed. He's especially noted to be a mauler in the run game and having him and a healthy Vatikani next year could get the rushing attack back on track. It would also possibly help us hold onto JKS's commitment.

We'll see how it all goes down since NSD is this week but finger's crossed this staff can pull in a couple surprise wins like Justin. Off the top of my head he would be the highest rated OL commit in the Wilcox era. Ratings tend to be overrated and overblown but aren't entirely meaningless and it would still be a nice feather in our cap after a very mediocre season.

I'm sure this is all Sebasta's doing, we should probably hire him officially as our football GM like Luck down on the farm since he's already doing most of the work anyway just without the authority to make the necessary institutional changes that we all know are needed

The question might be , why do our star players get injured before the season starts? Is our weight training at fault ? Why do other teams who a actually play Spring games not constantly, every year, have these injuries? Are we recruiting injury prone players? This problem has been going on for years. It doesn't matter how highly ranked they are because they never play . Beat Missouri!

Blasquez has been S&C head guy forever. He's always been mediocre based on our results.

Well it might not be the best time to mention this but he did have half his junior year wiped out with a knee injury. He was fine his senior year though and has 32 offers from all the power conferences including tons of major ones

It's not just strength and conditioning in football that helps. We need off season programs that contribute to an athletes agility, flexibility, and additional skillets. Me thinks Oline and Dline should learn grappling and ballet which helps in avoiding injuries and recovery time. Reason is that ballet requires using muscle groups that aren't dominant, it basically reduces dependence on primary muscle groups.

Correction: "…landing him and FOUR more guys like him…"

I mean if we're doing that the. OL is the most developmental position and is a bit of a crapshoot so 10 more guys like him to guarantee we get quality starters and depth would be ideal

I checked SMU's OL roster as an example - 25. How many do we have, 18?
