Wilcox has a mandate. ACC title, or done. Title, not title game. Win or go home. Nice that in year 9 he's taking his job seriously. I'm pulling for him.

If you are telling me Cal is in the title game next year, and then loses the game....we are supposed to hate? I mean, title game means at worst 9-3, if that? If the Devil is buying my soul for that trade off, I'm in....
And no, I am not a Wilcox fan at this point in case someone wants to come at me...

I'm going to be a conspiracy nut here but....given FM's actions being brought to light I wonder if he was why all the Ott plays were getting destroyed. It wasn't just Ott's health or bad blocking - the other team knew when and where Ott was going to run the ball. Maybe unintentionally he was leaning one way or another or glancing at the gap. Didn't affect the Jet. QC guys really need to look at it. It was bizarre how Ott's runs were blown up before he could even get to the scrimmage.

This is a new low for conspiracy theories.

Whatever happened behind the scenes, Mendoza issued a gracious and well thought out statement. Wilcox specifically chose not to comment on the situation. That is called handling things like adults.

The gossip girls should STFU. Anyone with any sense won't believe it anyway. 99% of the time it is all bullshyte.

If it makes anyone feel better to think Mendoza is scum, be my guest, but it doesn't score anymore touchdowns next year.

Further, if anyone doesn't believe this was the best move for Mendoza, they are absolutely kidding themselves. Had Cal thought there was a better QB out there they would have kicked Mendoza to the curb in a second. Mendoza knows there are better places for him so he did the same. That is life in the big boy world. People need to grow up.
For some weird reason, despite the dude bailing after pretending to be too sick to play, most of yall continue to believe mendoza's pretty boy, nice guy facade. Ooms was a bear through and through, hell yeah his word means more than the dude in the portal.

This is pro sports now, not some "student athlete" bs anymore. Mendoza and his family come across as trash and i wish him no future on-field success.

I'm sorry. Nando's a fraud.

Go compete for the job.

He established himself as the starter and had a solid year, so go build off of that momentum for the 2025 season. Football is a tough game. You need to be mentally tough to manage each year. How do you think Joe Montana felt being 5th on the depth chart his first 3 years. I know he didn't feel sorry for himself. He just went out and competed.

Don't play the victim card.

Same thing happens at every position on the team every season and on a game by game basis. It's why they grade out the films. Same goes for the NFL.

Hey Daddy Nando, stay out of the media and let your son compete.

Well, I've said this before but I think his dad's mannerisms said it all. He was just in his chair, planted. Like a juror. Didn't smile. At least I don't recall an instance when he was on television when he did.

Without breaking the rules here as I know it is premium content, but can someone summarize how it was confirmed that Mendoza dissuaded JKS from coming to Cal? If not its cool but it seems like this is some major tea here.

Mendoza always had that slightly suspicious disingenuous personality. The "flu" SMU hoax was a super bad look and sounds like he has some crap advisors but good luck hope he secures the bag. Grass isn't always greener.

Disagree. Disingenuous as the day is long. This is probably not the first time he has pulled this crap. What goes around comes around. He will get his, it may take awhile, but it will happen.

Again, he did us a solid by helping to beat furd. For that, I am eternally grateful. But pulling the crap at SMU, even before the game started, there was a camera on him with no mask, and others around him, and he was writing on a notepad of some sort. He did not look sick or injured. And apparently was not.

This type of behavior is NOT OK

Wrong. Professional Minor League Football, AAlevel, is a business. Nothing more. Listen to some of the younger posters here. It's all about the Benjamin's, and other dead Presidents.

( I know, but ignorance is official coin of the realm, my homies.)

Just another thing for the naive to validate in their mind that the sky is falling.

Wilcox and Bloesch helped turn a 2* into a 4*. They did him well.
Everyone should find someone who has as much faith in them as you do in this coaching staff.

They can't evaluate QB talent for ***** They only gave Mendoza a chance after all their coveted transfers flamed out. Then this year they continually tried to make Rogers work when it was obvious he couldn't hack it.

Come on, man. 'Both sides' are being extreme. Bone headed to "promise" 'anything' by Bloesch, if true. But Cal obviously did a good job "evaluating" 2-star QB Fernando, and were his only P4 offer - he was committed to Yale, for Chrissakes, with no other viable options at the time. Cal "evaluated" him after a recommendation from one of Musgrave's friends, and gave him a P4 scholly - took a flyer on him, so to speak - and ultimately 'developed him' into a starting P4 QB by his (RS) Sophomore season. And as a result Cal has helped him become a now-4-star, in-demand Portal QB. Competition - with Chandler Rogers, or anyone else - is not a bad thing. Forcing your QB to "win" the job...to "beat out" the competition, is the point, isn't it? *** should he be whining about having to f'n 'compete'?
It certainly isn't a bad thing....unless you're Cal, and said qb that you developed into a 4-star leaves for the portal.

What happens if you don't develop him… and he stays?
