Thanks for all your work SB.

And finally starting to replace the WR room with UNLV transfer senior Jacob De Jesus (that can hopefully block for the Ottfense).

Stats look pretty decent: https://unlvrebels.com/sports/football/roster/jacob-de-jesus/16148

Yeah good get. In our bowl it felt like he (De Jesus) was whipping our behinds, I mean I think he only had a couple catches and "some" rushing yards, but he had a TD and was great on Special Teams too. That dude is just a football player and will be easy to root for. Glad to have him.

I Imagine he will be our main Kick Returner & Punt returner and will replace Mikey Mathews at the WR position.

Pretty nice pick up imo.

Those open windows for transfers is confusing. Wasn't the last window closed on December 28th? And the next one not open until April 1625, 2025?

How can players come and go and teams add players outside of these windows?

Seems like chaos, although the Bears appear to be profiting. 247s team transfer ranking system appears off, btw.

One way (but doesn't explain De Jesus) is that while the portal closed on the 28th of Dec., players that were on teams that still had upcoming bowl games, are given 5 days beyond the completion of their last game.

De Jesus may be a graduate transfer? They aren't bound by the transfer portal windows.

Also, it looks like De Jesus "officially entered" the portal on Dec. 30. He may have filed his paperwork on Dec. 28 and the school may not have processed his paperwork until Dec. 30.

Those are the windows to enter your name in the portal. But there are some caveats: you have 5 days from your bowl game to enter, if there's a coaching change on your team it immediately opens another 30 day window, sometimes there's a lag in the paperwork going through but as long as it was filled out and sent by the deadline then guys keep trickling into the portal, and sometimes a guy is in the portal but it just hasn't been announced because it's explorative and they're considering sticking with their current team. I'm sure there are other reasons but these are just the common ones that I'm aware of.

So guys can commit and sign with new schools at any time as long as they got their paperwork in to enter the portal by the deadline. The "open" and "closed" distinction only applies to guys entering the portal from their current school and doesn't mean a freeze on signing or recruiting portal transfers. I also think that grad transfers or guys from JCs are free to enter the portal at any time. Hope this helped!

Tight end Simon Mapa became the fourth member of the College of San Mateo junior college state championship team to commit to Cal this season. Mapa announced his commitment to Cal on social media Wednesday evening.

Mapa joins three College of San Mateo teammates that are coming to Cal for the 2025 season -- outside linebacker John Gayer, quarterback Dominic Ingrassia and outside linebacker Odera Okaka.

Mapa caught 16 passes for 159 yards this past season, and he had his biggest impact in the postseason. He had four catches for 60 yards in College of San Mateo's 27-22 victory over Modesto in the state semifinals, then added three receptions for 23 yards in the Bulldogs' 43-11 victory over Mount San Antonio in the championship game.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Mapa was a sophomore this season. He is from San Mateo, California, and attended Aragon High School.

Mapa's commitment comes the same day that Idaho transfer tight end Mason Mini committed to Cal. Evidently the tight end spot will be an important position in the offense of new Cal offensive coordinbator Bryan Harsin.

Mapa's social says he is 6'4", 240, but I digress.

Dazmin James to Cal via the portal

James had a breakout performance with three catches, 137 yards and a touchdown in Arkansas' bowl game win over Texas Tech.

Arkansas wide receiver transfer Dazmin James is expected to commit to Cal, according a report by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports and 247 Sports. James has not confirmed the commitment himself.

Since entering the transfer portal, James reportedly visited Purdue, Utah, Oklahoma State and Mississippi State before his scheduled visit to Cal on January 8, which was his last visit.

James was a redshirt freshman this past season, so he has three years of eligibility remaining. He ended the 2024 season on a high note, recording three receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown in Arkansas' victory over Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl.

However, those were James' only three receptions for the season. He played in eight of the Razorbacks' 13 games, but did not start any of them and his only receptions came in the bowl game.

The 6-foot-2, 196-pound James is from Clayton, Norh Carolina, and he attended Clayton High School. He had offers from North Carolina State and Liberty as well as Arkansas coming out of high school.

He only had 3 catches in one game last year. The bowl game. Looks like it was a redshirt year with the ability to play in the Bowl game.

Montana State transfer safety Dru Polidore Jr. announced on social media on Friday that he has committed to Cal.

Polidore had narrowed his transfer choices to Cal and Stanford before choosing the Golden Bears and canceling his visit to Stanford.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Polidore had 35 tackles, two interceptions and one pass breakup in the 2024 season. He started eight games in 2023, and had one start while playing all 12 games in 2022 as a freshman. He has one year of college eligibility remaining.

fun fact: reese gotta good PONYTAIL not devin

the 2025 qb1 is gonna be former high school all american & ohio state buckeye 6'3" 212 lbs devin brown!!...brown got 2 years of remaining eligiblity

shocky saw devin play back in the day at queen creek high school with ELITE arm strength & delivers a catchable ball with a decisive clean motion who works thru his progressions with a high football iq & that can make tough yards if necessary with his legs with physical aggression...in high school he passed for an unreal 8,000+ yards & 85 touchdowns in highly competitive leagues

devin is NOT a dumb azz, he gotta 4.4 gpa & an all academic big 10 honoree

if u don't got season tix(s) for the bears 2025 season ur gonna miss something special!!

in bryan harsin we TRUST#
https://instagr.am/p/DFGPKU3ShY5
KABBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as promised back on december 24th (despite the "not committed" message released by devin shortly thereafter as a response to the monster), the california golden bears now got 2 ELITE quarterback talents to compete for the qb1 role in 2025 spring ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://instagr.am/p/CM-pyanB-87
and like jaron (3.75 gpa) devin is very intelligent (4.4 gpa) & will be able to assimilate the coach harsin & coach rolo offense schematics much quicker than sub 3.0 gpa guys like sam jackson v & zach mayard

any cal recruiting discussion that does not include the gpa of prospects is basically WORTHLESS & the quarterback position is particularly a critical position of necessitating a high gpa qb1 like jared goff (3.7 gpa at stinson beach high school) & aaron rodgers (3.6 gpa at berkeley) that can balance the intense football video development work in the offices at memorial stadium, the non staff attended passing work out sessions with the wideouts in building chemistry, the necessary s&c work to withstand the inevitable brutal violent hits/collisions & the academic coursework at the #1 ranked public university in the world

welcome both devin & reese to berkeley!!

it's a GREAT day to be a bear#

Sucks to be losing David Reese to the portal though (he announced an hour ago). He was really good for us and we developed him and gave him PT after he was just wasting away on the bench at Florida. But still, he gave us two good years and I wish him the best; he'll probably get a fat paycheck for being a good edge player in the portal too
