Honestly, I think SMU could have been competitive in this game, but their turnovers have been killing them.

I have this theory that one of the reasons Alabama was successful was that they avoided long trips to stadiums outside the South during the regular season.

Their only OOC regular season game outside the South in the Saban era was at Penn State in 2011.

They usually played their big OOC games at neutral sites in the South.

Oh, I think they'd absolutely destroy Cal if they played in Berkeley. But by not traveling to Berkeley or any other stadium far away, they avoid the exhaustion of a long road trip and the unfamiliarity of a new environment.

My point is SMU wasn't ready for the 1) long travel, 2) to a different weather environment, 3) to an unfamiliar stadium with 4) 100,000+ fans.

the cold seems to have been bugging jennings from the start. soemthing that'll come up again, as all these B1G stadiums host playoff games in december, something they've never done

bummer for the acc, as they/we definitely aren't getting the benefit of the doubt next time

All of these games have been blowouts. Unless Tennessee responds, they're gonna get run out of Columbus.

*SMU and Indiana get blown out*

"See? This means we should have had more SEC teams in the tournament!"

*Tennessee loses just as bad*

"Uhhh . . ."

You sound anti Catholic! I digress.

I'm catholic! Well, Episcopalian now. But still. This is some bs.
For years, ND owned the Chicago area Catholic prep schools. How? Bishops recruited them for ND and told the kids that it was God's will that they go to ND. How do I know?

Well, that was a terrible day of football.

There's going to be a lot of talk about the flaws in the selection and seeding process. So let's look at how it would play out if the 12 team playoff was based purely on rankings (no weight given to conference champions), but still with the top 4 getting a first-round bye, and the first round played on campus:

First round bye: Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Penn State

First rounds:

ASU @ Notre Dame
Alabama @ Ohio State
SMU @ Tennessee
Boise State @ Indiana

I think that no matter how the 12 teams are chosen, we're going to see a championship game of Georgia vs Oregon-Ohio State winner.
