It's reading a story about Fernando Mendoza where Fernando Mendoza's name doesn't appear until the end of the third paragraph.

I don't care where he goes, he's no longer a Bear and therefore I no longer care! He had a real opportunity to be a Cal legend and set numerous passing records, he chose to leave, so where he goes from here is of zero importance to me as a Cal fan!

For this Cal team I think the difference between Mendoza and our other QB options are night and day. I have no love lost for him but it's crazy to say that he isn't a difference maker for our offense.

See, this is the Cal fan problem/thing: Just because the other options are a D+, D-, & F doesn't mean that Mendoza (C+) matters. It's on the staff for not finding anybody worth a damn.

I'd give Mendoza like a B or a B+, He could easily be the starter on a team that gets to the CFP. An "A" quarterback is one who could carry his team to the CFP. The amount of NIL he is apparently getting / will get would seem to corroborate that.

I suspect the Mendoza story is probably more complex and nuanced than he's-a-bad-guy / he's-a-good-guy. But just to judge him on his actions: he left, okay fine, but he didn't leave well.

I'm callin' bs on that "offer". Just doesn't sound reasonable.
They will most likely fully fund thier NIL war chest at 20.5 million dollars. They are going to spend 20% of that on a QB? More than their basketball team gets? How does that pencil out?
That leak benefits the QB, the agent, and Duke so I am not sure how believable it is.
