Happy Trails to Coach AT

This one is a huge loss. Coach AT, who has done a terrific job recruiting and coaching up RBs, has left to become the RB coach at Northwestern. I've seen it speculated that a big piece of his reasoning may be his son's severe epilepsy and Northwestern's top-tier epilepsy center. Regardless, he was key in landing and keeping Ott, Jaivian, and the rest of the RBs as well as doing a great job coaching them up even with suboptimal OL play. I wish nothing but the best for Aristotle and his family but, as a fan, this one stings more than most. Thank you for your time here and good luck moving forward

Best of luck to Coach AT in the next chapter of his career.

Who are some of the candidates being considered? Would CJ Anderson be a good fit?

The new guy will be fine. He's got a solid background and has local ties as well as NFL experience. This is Harsin's call and the overhaul of the offensive staff is complete.

Thanks! Excited to hear that it will be someone with NFL experience. Hopefully it will benefit Ott and Thomas.

Reported on TOS that this was not AT's choice, that he didn't make a choice to leave for Northwestern.

Any indications why? I thought he did very well with what he had to work with during his time here, coached up Ott and Jet, had OL and scheme that weren't helping out the run game at all, his guys were getting hit in the backfield or having to break tackles behind the LOS more often than not, they kept forcing the same runs with no misdirection or pre-snap movement, anemic passing attacks, etc. Was it just Harsin wanting to bring in coaches that fit his system and hire his own staff or do you think it was about AT?

Just being honest I thought he recruited well and coached well given what he took over and what was going on around him

Is Julian Griffin the candidate with local ties and NFL experience, or did we end up hiring someone else?

.

No. There was another coach that was the front runner until Griffin became a possibility.

I'd like to believe that's true. But I tend to always be positive! I do know now that the chance of getting Griffin determined the change of plans.
Players get "recruited over". Sometimes Coaches do too.

Well no one can accuse Julian Griffin of not swinging for the stars. KJ Edwards is one of the top RBs in the country for '26

We have two of the best running backs in the country on the team right now, and sent plenty of them to the League. Makes sense we'd continue to aim high.
