Oregon State
Washington State
Boise State
Colorado State
Fresno State
San Diego State
Utah State
Texas State

And Gonzaga in basketball

Maybe Sac State has a shot? Their name fits.

Still very glad we are in the ACC instead, at least for football and basketball, at least for now. What we need to shoot for is the expanded B1G West Division.

Yeah, this would not have been a good league to stay in. Even if the member schools are more far-flung, the ACC is a better fit for Cal and Stanford, both athletically and academically.

If Cal rejoined the Pac [9] it would be the only non-'state college' in the conference. Hmm, what would that say about Cal?

Cal was a correct answer on Jeopardy on Monday. Category was "ACC! ACC!" and the first clue of the game was: "When you think of the Atlantic Coast Conference, you surely go to this state school near the East Bay; you can thank the Pac-12".

A realistic chance for a winning conference record?

Time to rebrand as Cal State Berkeley!

We could have the team officially represent "Cal State East Bay" with the players mostly enrolled there for the easier admissions and easier course load and lower scholarship "cost" but still play in California Memorial Stadium as the "California Golden Bears." For basketball, Cal State East Bay's gym would be the dedicated practice facility that people are claiming would cost $100 million otherwise (and the players as CSEB students would have more time to work on their games) but games would be at Haas.

It would be a perfect time to drop the name, Berkeley, and rename the city, Ohlone.
Cal State Ohlone.

I actually went to a few Cal State East Bay football games back in the 1980s. Of course, they were Hayward State (Cal State Hayward ?) back then.

Would you schedule any of these teams for future OCC opponents?

San Diego State

It is really not a compelling conference. Also rans from each state. I'd rather play the former PAC-12 teams from each state as our A games. There is history there. We play SMU every year but if we are going to play another Texas team, play Texas. MWC teams like Hawaii, UNLV and Nevada are more strategic for us for recruiting purposes. Local teams like UC Davis, Sac State and San Jose State make some sense as well.
