Not sure of all the details but appears to be a big fundraising push on August 5-7.
It's on the Cal Athletics Fund instagram page but not on the official calbears.com site.

Today's the last day. There are "prizes" for programs with the most money raised, the most unique donors and the most program alumni donors.
https://givingday.berkeley.edu/giving-day/104753/department/106458/leaderboards

As of this post (7:20 am. on 7 August) Only 18 donors for football - Men's Gymnastics leads with 41 separate donors. Total football donations are only $3500.

I know we all are constantly being hit up for donations - but this fundraiser just does not seem to be much of a success.

raising donor funds for paying for co ****tards jay & jenny's salaries plus knowlton's buyout is probably a harder sell than chancellor lyons imagined

that would be kinda like shocky animal rescue advocacy fundraising for hiring michael vick as an animal facility director, tuff sell for sure

So are you saying that the raised money will not be going to the designated programs?

nc, that's exactly wuz shocky is saying

jay larson & jennifer simon-o'neil have a documented track record of misappropriating dollars earmarked by alums for the football program & the men's excellence in basketball fund to olympic sports

also keep in mind that the vast majority of the current paltry non binding pledges will NEVER be actually collected by the athletic department

The vast majority of the funds in this Go For Gold campaign appear to be directed to other than FB and MBB. (Total is now $63,245 of which 3500 is for FB and 950 is for MBB) So, I just want to clarify that you say those non FB/MBB programs won't get the money collected and directed to them but instead the coADs are going to use it for their own salaries and a Knowlton buyout? Or are you saying that the money collected and directed to the nonFB/MBB programs will somehow be redirected among the nonFB/MBB programs?

first of all the vast majority of the current pledged $63k is never gonna be actually collected, ok??

and this is a major issue for the university as a whole with its bloated billions of dollars endowments that isn't collected

donations to any large organization are fungible so it's really depends upon the ethics of those responsible for the money...so yeah paying off jay & jenny's combined almost $1,000,000 compensation is gonna be their 1st priority as just really bad public servants & honestly unlikeable unethical human beings

read the monster thread for 20 minutes or start a thread on the premium board if u want details re: how the con artist game works in berkeley

The Go For Gold amounts are not "pledged" - they are collected immediately. So unless people are cancelling their credit cards, that money is actually in Cal's pocket. I guess what you are alleging is that Cal will be taking that money and then not distributing it as intended by the donor and so the "pledge" is not "collected" by the individual program.

Yeah - I know about fungibility of money.

And I thought you stayed off the premium boards.
