Jks is a qb, figured he was,but confirmed
OL seeems improved
RBs are ok
Defense is as expected good, DBs young but skilled
Personal note , de jesus putting up a few stats, nice to see, his grand auntie will be happy
The secondary is starting a Senior and a RS Senior in Austin and Masses on the outside at CB. The starting NB is a RS Junior in Cam Sidney, Safety Isaiah Crosby is a RS Senior with his running mate Aidan Manutai a true Freshman. Manutai's primary backup is Dru Polidore a RS Senior.
So while the DBs are new, Manutai is the only player that's not highly experienced
Under Wilcox our staff has consistently identified and recruited DBs from the portal and coached them up into draft picks. It is really the one thing that we do at an elite level and do consistently.
If we can get that skill for the offensive line, we'll win games. Btw, also shows if you get an offensive line coach that can build a winning group, you PAY DE MAN to keep them, because that seems to be the most challenging position group to fill for coaching. How many bad line coaches have we went thru and now it seems like this one works.
I've been arguing for playing Hawaii regularly and hiring Polynesian OL and DL coaches and making that part of our identity, as many of our West Coast competitors have, for decades. It is one of our potential comparative advantages and natural recruiting areas. I think that is part of Anae's success, especially in 2026 recruiting, and I am glad to see it.
Re Cal/Hawaii: Home and away with the away being a Thanksgiving game. Truly a game reaching all of America for the ACC Network. It should be our USC/ Notre Dame.
Sponsored by C&H (California and Hawaii) Sugar just in time for baking season.
I agree with the idea, but Cal would only get the TV rights to the Cal home games. Fortunately, Thanksgiving weekend typically has more games due to some games shifting to Black Friday, so it should be easier to get a broadcast.
I could see a Cal Hawaii game be a mainstay of the late night windows.
I have no issue with Hawaii getting the TV rights to the games in Hawaii. And in those years we would get to play a 13th game and in Week 0 which would generate lots of TV revenue and eyeballs.
Hawaii is building a new Aloha Stadium but so far has been left out of the new Pac-12. They may go independent again. With Sagapolutele a bona fide star, our 2026 Hawaii recruiting strong, we should wrap up a long term deal now.
