I was never in to Journey, but I'll tell you what, Lights and Don't Stop Believin' are great songs that were fantastically sung by Steve Perry. Good call.

The Giants have kind of already claimed these as stadium singalongs, though.
ah. Glad they do it!

Maybe a more obscure tune would work out better? Maybe an instrumental that everyone could hum along with?

better yet, just turn the piped in music on the new improved sound LOUDER!

Maybe they could try a Bear Growl contest?

Was it "Save me San Francisco"?

This could work. Lawrence Welk liked it. He just didn't understand it:

“I love Cal deeply. What are the directions to The Portal from Sproul Plaza?”

You can have "Lights" from an East Bay band:

Actually, here's another Tower of Power song. Imagine the crowd singing the chorus to This Time It's Real, particularly after a Cal victory:

Just 10 words with the Cal Band Brass section really leaning in . . . AWESOME

~ heard mention 'Lights' ( overplayed & a wee bit cheesy ) may have been inspired by L.A., so . . . ; 'Wheel in the Sky'/ 'Cal-i-for-nia' would be "fire", baby - make it so . . .

- Video was strong & entertaining,, lyrics on screen including 'Go Bears Go!', & considering every section including Tightwad was at best a third full, except full student section, participation wasn't dire

The video itself was good, IMO! But people didn't sing along. Not sure they even realized they were supposed to.

There was a second song that they tried after the first one fizzled out. I didn't recognize it but it seemed to get more response to the sing along.

At least this is more original than Sweet Caroline. But it would be nice to have something more BERKELEY or California instead of SF.

A stadium PA decision that stands out in my memory is when late in a close game several years ago, they played 'Build me up Buttercup.' Not exactly a single that pumps up the crowd or the team!

I think tOSU marching band has it in its rotation and plays it where the crowd sings along. Nothing to pump you up but just a communal moment which is what we're looking for. Jump Around at Wisconsin is still the best. Mr. Brightside at Michigan is second imo. I do like the Country Roads sing along at West Virginia after games. Very cool arm in arm.
VA tech's Sandman Entrance is impressive but best if performed in packed stadium. Not a Metallica fan but I have to say

Definitely! It was a great collection of Cal talent and achievement to a catchy tune but no one really sang along. They didn't mention anything before about singing along. To me it was more received as a hype video

Yep. That's the one. As should be obvious, I haven't really followed popular music since the 70's. If you aren't dead, you aren't on my playlist ;-)
