Star this post if you're actually going to get one of these.

(There should be plenty on eBay.)

lol what an awkward position to be in a leadership position at Stanford and then releasing a bobblehead of your own likeness. I am sure he didn't make the final call (or maybe he did?) but if it were me i'd make sure its done after I am no longer in a position of power. But maybe neoptism and the like is nothing new at Furd

Regardless, what are they going to do with the 19500 of them left after the game?

Save them for the Big Game. Then they'll only have 19,000 to worry about afterward.

It dawned on me that the reason they have to do a Luck bobblehead is that they don't currently have any star players or coaches.

What am I missing? What is the point? Is he pretending he is a civil war commander? Why?

Why did we make a Marshawn Lynch bobblehead in 2016? Did we not have any star players or coaches?

We could have had Goff as a bobblehead in 2016, after his record-setting career at Cal and his top NFL draft pick, at least we had that option.

If you don't understand why Furd did this or don't see the value in it but you also complain that Cal Marketing isn't doing enough to try to be relevant and grow their fanbase then you need to take a step back and consider that you may not be the best arbiter of pop culture anymore.

This is honestly a great idea from them to tap into a viral meme from the past and lean into it for a fun collectible. It's the kind of thing that even a non-Furd fan (whether CFB or NFL) might notice and understand the reference to and be interested in.

Although I'm all for the idea of supporting current players and not living forever in the past, it also can't be denied that it's a far less certain path in today's NIL and transfer portal world. Previous players are known quantities who we can guarantee rep Cal. Imagine if we made an Ott or Mendoza bobblehead last year?

It was the 10 year anniversary of the game where Marshawn celebrated with the injury cart after the Cal/UW game in 2006. And it was also done because it was a safe bet to garner additional media attention and coverage:
