JKS comes down to earth tonight. It happens and 6 sacks doesn't help.
I wonder how Wilcox apologists are gonna lower the bar for this year. Perhaps '7-6 will represent a step in the right direction'?

Things can change, but no reason JKS would stay for another year of this right now. Poor protection, crappy receivers, no other weapons, possible coaching changes . . . . We may be able to find the money, but I'm not sure how we fix the other issues.
We lose JKS because there is no talent around him. Our team speed is at a high school level.

u would think that wilcox would say lets go for it after stopping them 4th straight time with no gain and tron got a reception and its 4th and 4th. i get it. if we dont get that fourth down then its game over. but u gotta know your own team man. when is the last time your D came up with a stop a 5th series in a row

The players don't matter if Wilcox is still the coach.
For the record, offense, defense and special teams all failed today.

I don't blame conservatism, because his problems are not that specific. I blame just being bad in general.

Schedule is still weak, so it will probably be . . . another .500 season, give or take a game. Further stagnation under this coach.

A historically easy schedule and we can't take advantage of it because we have a historically subpar head coach. Just the most Cal thing ever.
Cal football is a dead man walking.
I've watched every season since 74-75. This is atrocious. We have elite talent like JKS and we can't cobble together enough around him to make him successful against mediocre ACC opponents. Makes me sad….

Edit: whatever he does, I have a feeling Ron's style is to wait until the end of the season to make his moves (if possible).

I honestly think for some of them, they have no choice but to double down and keep rooting for Wilcox because they don't think they have enough time to enjoy the fruits of a rebuild. It's the whole "I don't buy green bananas anymore" situation applied to football.

Sadly I don't think we can afford to fire him unless donors are willing to pony up some big money. Equally sadly, we can't afford to keep him around too. I've asked before whether there's appetite for donors to send money to a buyout fund instead of the NIL fund, but I guess that's off the table. So it would appear that we are absolutely ****ed once the next conference realignment happens, unless we can luck into a generational hire and rebuild the roster in the span of one or two seasons.
