I watched Draft Day with Kevin Costner and he mentions "I've read the forums and they are all calling for your head" when speaking to the Seahawks coach.

It made me think. Do college and pro coaches, GMs, owners actually care what we say and think in these forums? Do you think Ron and Co know about BI posts and the topics we speak of get to them? As many of us that are on here and share our opinions, we are still a minority in the amount of fans out there.

We have as much sway as protesters do with the government.

Some of these guys are ego maniacal and need to know what people are saying about them and/or bask in adulation. It's not at all rare for a person to enjoy adulation even from a group of others he doesn't respect.

Some teams may do it as a PR op. In 2009 under their previous ownership the Warriors PR director was unmasked as an anonymous poster on the main Warriors board, propagating positive posts about team management.

Some I'm sure are genuinely curious but I bet most of those quickly learn better.

If you were to conduct focus group market research, you couldn't find a better ready-made group of interested fans. So anyone who really wants to know the mindset of their most ardent fans would be a fool to overlook team message boards. All the work's already done for you!
