I'm going to the Big Game with my two daughters and their boyfriends - they are coming from out of town. We've gone yearly for the last several years, but the last couple of games at Stanford have been an absolute nightmare getting out of the stadium parking lots (orchards). We will be driving (i.e. not public transportation) and would love any recommendations for safe places to park that would require a 20 to 30 minute walk into the stadium. For perspective, Cal home games we enjoy parking in the neighborhoods west of the Claremont on the other side of Ashby and walk (~40 minute walk).

Thanks in advance, and as always, we look forward to taking over Stanford stadium and turning into Bear Territory!

If tailgating is not your thing, park at the Stanford Shopping Center and walk southeast along Arboretum to where it runs smack dab into the stadium known as Circus Minimus.

Palo Alto HS is good for an easy exit, but you have to get there early.

If you really want to stay away from stadium traffic, you can park in Menlo Park and walk across the bike bridge. San Mateo Drive near Bay Laurel.
1.6 mile walk or bike ride if you can bring bikes.
We often park near Nordstrom and walk from there but you still get traffic leaving campus area.
A lifetime of suffering as a Cal fan.

Street parking on El Camino, south of the stadium.

I usually park on one of the side streets off Embarcadero Road, then walk down that road asnd across El Camino, past the shopping center, on to campus and to the stadium. There's still traffic after the game on Embarcadero Road headed down to the freeway, but it's a lot easier than fighting your way off campus.

Depending on where you are coming from, there is Caltrain

Coming from the East Bay, Dumbarton Bridge, Willow Road exit, all the way to Alma, right on Alma, left on Ravenswood, Left on El Camino, left on Sand Hill Rd, left on Arboretum, and park in the area near Quarry Rd. There will be hardly any traffic on the way out through Arboretum towards the Furd Shopping Ctr.

We have done this for years. We are coming from the Central Valley and we go over the San Mateo bridge and stay on 92 to 280. South on 280 and take the Page Mill Rd. exit. Take this down the hill to Hanover St. Turn left on Hanover. This will take you a ways and there might be a block in the road somewhere. The object is to get to any of the college-named roads (Columbia, Dartmouth, Hanover, Harvard) that dead end into Stanford Ave. on the south edge of the campus. Turn left or right off of Hanover and you'll be able to access these roads. Go to the end of the road and park on the street. We have always found a place to park at the end (these streets do not have access to Stanford Ave). Hanover and Harvard are the closest to Escondido Rd. Cross Stanford Ave. and take Escondido all the way to Campus Dr. and turn right. Just follow the road and it will eventually bear left and take you right to the stadium. About a 20 minute walk. Make sure you memorize this route back to your car as on more than one occasion I have gotten lost. After the game back to the car, zip over to Page Mill Rd. and out to 280 and home. In all the years we have been doing this we have never had traffic, either on 280 or any or the Palo Alto streets. I imagine it would also work taking Page Mill Rd. from the east but I don't know what traffic is like there.

I now take cal Train rom Menlo Park and get off at Town & Country, cross El Camino an I'm at the Stanford Stadium.

I used to park in the 2 story parking garage in front of Macy's at the Stanford shopping Center. It's straight shot to the stadium.

Parking at the Stanford Shopping Center seems a good idea, but does mall management discourage it? Is there any chance of getting towed? (A few years ago for a soccer game at Stanford I saw signs put up at the shopping center saying no game parking)
