Please! Justin I am rooting for you! If he gets fair market value of $4M from Oregon state that means way better coordinator salaries for us! Or we can negotiate a buyout like Penn State did where we pay him $3M or $4M to move on and he takes whatever he makes from Oregon State. Win. Win. Win

I looked at future schedules. I hope we don't schedule them in the future.

Well, they just watched him kick their a** twice so they probably figure he's great.

I laughed.

A 50-point win would make us overconfident for the next game.

UW hired Gilby after he destroyed what we built under Snyder and while Wilcox is not an OSU guy, he is Oregon, through and through, and OSU in 2025 is not UW in the 1990s.

Understood, but it's hard to believe anyone would want him as a head coach--a job in which he has failed miserably.

LOL. $4 million would be the highest salary for a G6 head coach by far. Top of that market now is about $2.5 million. Oregon State is probably paying $2 million at most.

I think a lot of people aren't into the nitty gritty of the Wilcox experience. They think that Cal is a limiting place and Wilcox exceeded expectations.

Why not? So long as Cal has a good run game, just run the same QB run play all game and get the W. VaTech managed to do that for about 1.5 quarters and came back to win. Cal can do it by running the same play for the whole game.

Pfft. That was two whole years ago and before OSU became a G5 team! Ancient history.

It would essentially allow us to hire Tosh or Desean for the same base pay for the first two years with no increase to the current budget.

"Well he beat Minnesota a god team in the big 10, he almost beat Virginia a top 15 team and beat Louisville a top 14 team. All with the rigorous demands and academics at Cal so he's prime beef to most colleges in the nation. Oregon was trying to hire him away and now they, CAL, want to hire Tosh someone whose not as highly respected at Oregon as Wilcox? Just stupid"."

Wilcox also went to four times the number of bowl games as his predecessor at Cal, who played in the national championship.

"Wilcox has a winning record against teams that will be in the Pac-10 next year" (9-8 against WSU, OSU and San Diego State).

Yeah, but look who he lost to: San Diego State, Virginia Tech, Stanford, and Duke. And we just squeaked by Boston College and North Carolina. 6 teams we should have easily won. There's no way you can candy coat the fact that he was just a very bad head coach.

He is trying to come up with things to convince the Oregon State board that they should hire Wilcox because any money they pay him will reduce our payments to him.

In my 66 years, Wilcox has the second most wins of any Cal coach. And he did this for an under average salary with a horrible AD and sport's unfriendly administration. OSU would be crazy to not hire him and I think it's a typiCal move to have fired him.

He grows a beard, orange and black flannel plaid shirt, nice pair of 12" Danner's, and the Cult of Square Jaw endures, and thrives.
