The California football team has accepted an invitation to play in the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl and will face Hawai’i on December 24 at 5 p.m. PT on ESPN.

It marks the third straight bowl appearance for the Golden Bears (7-5), which is the program's longest bowl streak since it went to seven straight bowl games from 2003-09. Overall, it's the 27th bowl appearance in school history.

After appearances in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl in 2023 and the LA Bowl Hosted By Gronk in 2024, Cal will play the Warriors (8-4) at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu with a chance to register an eight-win season for the first time since 2019.

“We are excited to accept an invitation from the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl and continue our season in Honolulu,” Cal football general manager Ron Rivera said. “This is a reward for the hard work our student-athletes put in during the season, and we are looking forward to competing against an excellent Hawai’i team in front of a nationally televised audience.”

The priority access window for football season ticket holders to purchase tickets is now open. Please log in to CalBears.com and select “Hawai’i Bowl.” Tickets for the general public will begin next Monday at 10 a.m.

The Bears and Rainbow Warriors have met five times previously, with Cal holding a 3-2 series lead. In the last meeting between the teams in 2016, the Bears notched a 51-31 victory in a game that was played in Sydney, Australia.

This will be Cal's second appearance in a bowl game in Honolulu and first since it played in the Aloha Bowl in 1996.

trivial pursuit.. more than 50 years ago, on army leave from the far east, i spent several day/nights in one of those historic beachfront hotels (forgot which), got my feet wet out back, and when mad money ran out a couple days free on base waiting for the return flight. [similar tokyo lodging cost more]
ps: the city fine for not wearing a helmet on a rented motor-cy never caught up to me, ummm, yet.

Great place to visit and to solidify our Polynesian connections, and I'm sure that JKS appreciates playing at home, but the venue is a glorified high school stadium on the University of Hawaii campus that seats only 15,000. Won't have to worry about crowd noise.

> Personality
Rolovich is known for his zany personality; he brought a tarot card reader, a Britney Spears impersonator, and an Elvis Presley impersonator to Mountain West Conference Media Days during his head coaching days at Hawaii. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Rolovich went around WSU's Pullman campus on a bicycle FaceTimeing a recruit with a phone taped to his bike helmet to show the recruit what Pullman and the campus looked like [29].
