Yeah, top guys Cal offered who went elsewhere but now Cal has Tosh. The other one to look at is guys Tosh has recruited in the past, even if they didn't end up at Oregon.

Maybe some WRs that want to catch passes from JKS

This is more of a general statement then any particular comment on the players mentioned here, but I do hope that under Tosh that we aren't limited strictly to players that were highly recruited in HS who are now looking for more playing time but that we are in the conversation to actually get some proven transfers from other P4 schools who just want to join what we're building or view us as a better opportunity.

Not to say that we should stop looking at transfers in the other category or from G5 or FCS schools of course, we've had some great Bears that came in that way, just that a true shift in our recruiting ability would be signaled by being a desirable landing spot for P4 starters.

Everyone competing for players in the P2+1+1 has a boatload of $ to spend. Spend wisely.

He was UCLA's third or 4th receiver behind Kwazi Gilmer and Mikey Matthews (who transfered from Cal but might come back with the coaching change?).

And this was DeJesus' 4th and last year of eligibility (unless JC doesn't count any more).

It'd be great to get Gilmer. Not sure about the rest of the UCLA receivers.

King Large, OL from SMU is in the portal and is someone Cal offered out of high school. If you don't want someone named King Large on the OL then you're dead inside.

Honestly I'd welcome back those who fled Harsin. In particular I want Javian Thomas (didn't fare well at UCLA) and Nyziah Hunter (decent year at Nebraska).

with JKS on board attracting those players will be much easier …some stud receiver stuck in a bad system, bad qb etc

He's from Berkeley, played for Berkeley High and we offered him out of high school but he chose Stanford and new head coach Troy Taylor.

Sure but someone leaving and the former team's bowl opponent being a known destination would obviously not be a great look

Generally speaking, skipping the bowl game is a bad look. Why let your teammates down?

Nick Marsh? He's a high 4* WR (currently, not just his HS rating) class of '24 and went to Michigan State, big bodied possession WR who catches great in traffic and boxes guys out which would be deadly with a QB like JKS who puts the ball on a dime no matter what. Over 1300 yards with 9TDs and >13 yards/reception through two years as a true freshman and sophomore. Highest rated player currently in the portal so there could be a bidding war going on before other guys enter.

He also had high academic offers out of HS so should qualify here (Georgia Tech, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Boston Collece, UC Los Angeles, Syracuse, Wisconsin, etc.)

Why risk getting injured over a bowl game in Hawaii?

Why risk any game? Unless he already has a deal (possible), It is an opportunity to show what he can do on national TV and against his hometown team who has a serious need at his position. See Modesto native DeJesus against Cal in the 2024 LA Bowl. It really paid off when all our scholarship WRs fled. He had a great season and now has a Cal degree.

New top target for me: Matt Ludwig.

CO '26 just released from his NIL after being committed to Michigan. This kid is an all-around TE. He can catch, he can run, he can block. He plays in-line, in the slot, split out wide, H-back, and even took some wildcat snaps. He played both sides of the ball and on special teams too. Prototypical TE size at 6-4 230lbs and he plays up to it as a physical blocker and runner, good speed to him too. 3-sport athlete in football, wrestling, and track & field. Number 1 rated player in Montana and already holds a Cal offer. Looks like a future star but the bidding will be fierce.

Oh, and his nickname is MOOSE which was my pop's nickname too; it works better on a TE though. Mark my words, this kid would be a day 1 starter and star. Idk if any single non-QB has as much potential to completely elevate an offense the way he could

per link above..
> UH star wide receiver Jackson Harris has left Hawaii Football and intends to enter the transfer portal when it opens in January. The Stanf*rd transfer will not play in the Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 24.

Wouldn't it be fun if every player from the teams still in the playoffs entered the portal, demanding pay raises to play in any remaining games?

We need linemen on both sides of the ball, particularly on the OL.
