The Bears continue to stockpile top talent with a flip of Sierra Canyon former Oklahoma commit Jaxsen Stokes‍ today.

"Holistically, everything - school football, on and off the field," Stokes noted at reasons he decided to flip his commitment to Cal. "They have a great business school and that's maybe something I would like to pursue there. And just the family feeling I felt when I visited before the spring game was huge. That was my first time going up there. I felt like I belonged there. It felt a little different than what I felt like before so that was huge.

“And Coach Tosh, knowing that he went there, that's also important me. It shows that he's gonna give everything and give his all to this program, and everybody on the staff will too."

The 5-10/180 junior will join fellow Sierra Canyon 4 star safety Myles Baker‍ as the 10th commit of the Bears’ 2027 recruiting class which is now ranked 18th with On3.

"That's awesome," Stokes said of continuing his career with his teammate. “Going into the commitment, that wasn't like the heaviest thing I considered, but knowing that I can continue playing with my teammate for four more years now is huge so I don't take that lightly at all. And that's my guy, man. So we're definitely excited.

"He's a ballhawk and he can come down and he can cover. So I think those are things that make up a great safety and somebody who can perform at a high level. He's going to be a great player."

As a junior, Stokes rushed for 722 yards in 9 games, with 12 TDs on the ground along with 12 receptions for 155 yards and 2 additional TDs for one of the top programs in the country.

The 3 star running back possesses elite tackle breaking and burst, with a unique ability to exploit holes in the defense and will pair nicely with fellow RB commit Antwon Sanders‍ in the 2027 class.

The Bears are also after another teammate of Stokes and Baker - DL Kasi Currie‍, who recently visited the Bears for their spring game.

“He's been up there more times than I've been there,” Stokes said. “A couple times he was actually with there with Myles, so I think they are trying to lock him down. I think they feel like they have a good chance for him and let him know he’s got the talent to succeed no matter where he plays so go play where he’s comfortable.”

The Bears beat out Notre Dame, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Stanford and more for their newest addition. Besides Baker and Sanders, Stokes will join Westlake receiver Charles Davis III‍, Texas WR Blake Gunter‍, DT Miles Schirmer‍, Sutter DE Troy Bowens‍, Grant edge Giovanni Hodge‍, Arizona LB Gunnar Perry‍ and IMG Academy kicker Zach Brien‍ in the Bears’ 2027 recruiting class.

Welcome to Cal Jaxsen!

Impressive class shaping up, that's the kind of result we expected from Tosh.

Really like his talent. Not many RBs are that explosive and proficient with one-step quick cuts while also being patient runners behind their blocking. He also flashes impressive proprioception when on screens when he catches the ball with defenders bearing down on him or contesting and Jaxsen secures the pass while naturally moving away from contact - completing the play is great on its own but he's creating explosive plays out of what would otherwise be vulnerable positions for a receiver.

Welcome to The University of California! We're happy to have you Jaxsen and the entire Stokes family, Go Bears!
