Everyone you know. School groups, church groups, friends, other alumni, coworkers, mistresses, families, Nathalie Harp, etc etc.

Let's try to sell out the UCLA game.

Bus the K-12 kids and CC students into the south endzone. No one knows how the season is going to go but have to be ready for a one time chance to break the mold and stereotypes, and give a real gift to the Bay. A new era has no limits at least that anyone knows for sure. 60,000+ and have the season going on all cylinders inside and outside the facilities. Maybe to the Wagner game instead or the like if the buzz for UCLA is doing well

We all need to buy more tix than we normally do, and invite our friends who normally wouldn't go otherwise. We can be the change we want.

I bought a half dozen extra for UCLA, we'll be there under the lights rooting loudly and witnessing Tosh's first ever game.

So excited for the game. Will be there with a good handful of family.
Looks like quite a lot of tix available online. Fans need to pick it up the next 2 weeks for us to sell out.

7:30PM kick will do that

The folks I know who are sports but not Cal fans think Cal will be mediocre to bad. Basically they are not aware that Tosh and the new players/coaches could elevate the team. Obviously they need to win and keep winning to get casual fans engaged.

doesn't seem to be a problem for the majority of schools

Walking back to the car in a town that shuts down when the sun sets will always present a problem in Berkeley. Tough when the townies are mostly gownies.

Never had a problem finding a spot to get a drink or a bite to eat in Berkeley at 10:30 on a Friday or Saturday night.

Agreed, after the Cal vs Texas game in 2016 ended at some ungodly hour, still managed to put down a couple of Quasars at Jupiter clear on the opposite side of campus.

I was at the game against North Carolina last year. Kick off was 7:30 pm on a Friday, game ended at almost 11:30 pm. Durant was its usual Friday night scene. Top Dog packed. It was well after midnight when we got cocktails at East Bay Spice on Shattuck,

My wife and I park just up from the Claremont. Never a problem. She's 72, I'm 67. We also get to the parking area 3-4 hours before the game so we get way down Fishranch. Actually, since this is a night game I think we can park in the neighborhood just down from the Claremont. Allows us to not hike up a bit of dark Fishranch. Not for everyone I guess.

OK, Tosh, I hear you... and after watching the Tell the Whole Damn World podcasts with Ed Quinn and Kevin Kennedy, I've decided to fly up for my first Cal home game in 20+ years... hope springs eternal (but this year it does feel different and more urgent than past years)! Ode Besar!

Any other out of town Bears want to trek to Berkeley for the Labor Day weekend?

If I was still anywhere within a 5-hour flight, I would be there. But my wife and I now travel full time, and we're currently in Pogradec, Albania. I must admit, however, that late last night, I did look at travel options to get to the game, and aside from 20-30 hours of travel each way, it's simply cost prohibitive. (And I think my wife would divorce me if I dragged her to Albania and then abandoned her to fly to a football game.)

So that's my excuse. I'll just have to watch on TV at 4:30am local time.

If you aren't already planning to attend, what's yours? Get there if you possibly can.

Go Bears!

I'm coming down from Reno. But then, I come down for every game.

Reposting what I put on the insider board.

Pleased to announce that the student combo passes have COMPLETELY SOLD OUT. In addition, the football only student passes HAVE COMPLETELY SOLD OUT. Over 8,000 tickets sold - well beyond the capacity of the traditional student section so they've expanded over to the right (if you're facing it from the alumni side). Football only passes apparently sold out in just two hours after going on sale!

First time this has happened since . . . well I'm pretty sure since the Tedford era (and even then I couldn't swear that was true - I just assume it was because those seats were always filled).

Now, I know a few of you are about to write "This seems problematic because now we have no ability to add students who want to jump on the bandwagon late . . . " (you know who you are). So to preemptively respond, Cal did hold back some tickets in the adjoining areas in case a fraternity or sorority didn't get their act together and get their order in in time. So we can hopefully still accommodate some late additions.

Now the attention turns to ensuring that the students (1) arrive early, (2) don't have to wait in long lines to get scanned/admitted and (3) have a great time. Another call with Cal this afternoon on all three fronts (that last one will be outside gameday's ultimate control as the results on the field will have a lot to do with it, but we're going to do what we can). Point is Cal is laser focused on getting this done right - I've made the point (and they've fully embraced the thesis) that we only have a single chance to make a first impression with the students. Wow them and they're hooked. . . so we need to wow them.

A great development and a decisive rebuttal to those who say that the current Cal students "aren't into big time football." The naysayers are wrong. Again.
