The good: JKS and offense are humming
The bad: defense still looks lost at times.
The ugly: A) 8 penalties for 76 yards. Thats not including at least 3 that were declined. We're 4th worst in the country at penalties and dropping after this one. B) That end of half clock management was idiotic.

With proper clock management we had a chance to get a TD before the half ended.

In fairness where we were on the field, had we not did it that way...if we miss a FG from the 45, they can immediately get in FG position themselves. It was a odd spot to be in.
Really disappointed in the crowd - Top 25 team and it's about half full (33,000 capacity).
Looking back on it, clock management wasn't as bad as I thought. I would have preferred leaving 12 seconds on the clock so we don't risk the clock hitting zero's on that strong catch. But it worked out.

Our receiver screens have been more effective recently.

With more time maybe Strong is fighting for the first down instead of fighting to get out of bounds? Then maybe we are looking for 7 instead of 3? Agree that we avoided disaster.
3rd and 22 just outside field goal range we played to not give the ball back to smu with time on the clock. That's reasonable. The play calls that got us to 3rd and 22 were more questionable than the clock management.
7 seconds seemed off too. It looked like they hiked the ball with closer to 10 seconds left....but smu called timeout before the snap....but somehow 3 more seconds came off the clock. I dunno....maybe I misread the clock but that seemed off, and I agree 10-12 seconds would have been much better.
