It's sad that I'm almost nostalgic for Holmoe now. I certainly prefer Wilcox over what we're getting now.

I know we're not firing Tosh but we'd better redo the rest of this terrible coaching staff.
It was during the halcyon Tedford days but I remember listening to us beat Oregon State over radio, seems quaint but to see us falling out of the major college football scene makes me think about minutiae like that
Those early Tedford years were such a joy.
It's not even about the wins or losses, of course I feel differently compared to back then but I thought I would always have something to look forward to every fall Saturday in perpetuity, but seeing us blown out in Dallas in a conference game is just the cherry on the **** sundae of a deteriorating situation

Tosh doesn't have it. Wilcox 2.0.

I disagree. Wilcox is a mediocre head coach. There are many G6 programs that would love to reach mediocre status with occasional bowl games, and would hire Wilcox.

Tosh is a bad head coach and will never get another head coaching job at the FBS level.

That doesn't mean I wish they didn't fire Wilcox. We need to keep changing coaches until we hire a good one. Tosh had no record as a head coach and didn't deserve the deal he got, and we will all suffer for it for the next few years.

We'll always have "Ripple."

If I had known the move to fire Wilcox was so we could hire Tosh then I would have said "Nyet!". I'd have accepted another losing conference record and a minor bowl. This train wreck is just starting. We got 2 more years of this and at the end we drop D1 football and look enviously at Fresno State. Gross.

Let's be real, if Wilcox was still the coach, what other wins do we have, maybe Clemson? And we probably don't grind out Syracuse either

One or 2 more dozen bounces our way...and things could have gone different...

I think we were so scarred by having an outsider like Sonny Dykes as head coach that we went with a *not-in-demand* Tedford staffer not once, but twice. We must have a Cal guy!

I don't recall this board advocating for somebody else. I'm sure somebody did. But it seemed like 75% of us were all for Tosh (including myself).

When we hired Dykes I was pissed that we didn't get Dave Doeren, well now

Year 1 of Tosh is a huge disappointment.

If we're stuck with Tosh, we just have to hope he learns and makes the changes we need. This is definitely not a Chesney-style turnaround for sure.

Hopefully we are less of an embarrassment in year 2 or 3. This year is basically done for, although I do expect us to get better in our remaining games.

Tosh doesn't seem like a "learnin' and making changes" type of guy. He seems more like a "play your position better and play harder" type of guy. That's why his choice of coordinators was such a mistake. Apparently, McCann is an improvement, but not enough, yet, to make adjustments at half time.

So, what do you do at half time? We know what they like to do and are good at. So far, they've used this and this and this out of those things. So, anticipate that they will use less of those and more of the other things that they haven't used.

Then, again, their team came out thinking that this would be a walk-over and their coach disabused them of that at half time. Face it - they have better players. And, when you have to play db's at rb and wr, and your regulars are tired after playing really hard in the first half, this is what you get.

I can imagine a scenario where Tosh and Ron have been sitting in a room after each game discussing what the plan was, were we successful executing it, what went to plan, and what didn't go to plan. Ron as much said this conversation occurs each week and is what he said led to the benching of our OC half way through an earlier game. If Tosh is doing everything his boss is asking from him it will be difficult for Ron to just can him. So I don't see this situation changing a whole heck of a lot from this point forward short of Ron getting the boosters approval to take over the team himself as the only way for Ron to save face. Given where we are in the season, a change is not likely to make much difference on the field either way. It is too disruptive to have a carousel of coaching shifts and philosophies every few weeks.

If you think about this, the very place Tosh finds himself in will have significant impacts on his recruiting as well. He is slowly backing himself into a position of being a fast talker who can't coach. The fast talking works when you work for a Saben, but I can't see his sheen being as bright now that he has been exposed as not being a great coach. Results matter.

I just need to see some better fundamentals, as a team we do so much that is just sloppy that should not be happening at this level. The penalties are huge, tackling, corners not looking back in coverage..I've never seen so much faceguarding, yes its legal in college, but its such a poor technique because you will never get interceptions if you can't ever see the ball coming. The tragedy of it all is physically we have amazing corners, tall and lanky dudes that can run like the wind.

Offensively, how are we in such a state where we have 0 running backs? The offensive line is a mess, as a unit so many times they look like they don't know how to play their position. I think there's too much junk play-calling going on that we need to start doing the simple things well. This season is lost for all intents and purposes so we might as well start trying to do a few things well so that next year we have a good place to start. Simplify the passing game, simplify the blocking scheme, the team needs some plays they can lean on. We should be out-executing the opposing defenses and get creative when we start mastering the simple stuff. The QB is taking pressure way too often, the line needs to start taking some pride as unit. They need to take the poor performance personally.

They need to deposit those checks because they won't be there next year, where ever thy are.

We really saw UCLA with DeShawn Foster and said I want some of that

Woody had about 6 running plays and they practiced them ad nauseam, but they ran them to perfection in games. How many pass plays? Wash your mouth out with soap.

Those early Tedford years were such a joy.

Yes, we flew from Long Beach for years and had season tickets for the whole family and their friends! Bear fans grew everywhere. Then the Pac 12 started to catch up and they did. Recall the old WSU, UW, Arizonas, Colorado, and stomping Stanfurd at will? Bears gave it up.
Bring back bottled beer and cigars at CMS. Should get us back in the Rose Bowl!
