Since it wasn't an ESPN Game Day we got the consolation prize - Rebecca Haarlow. Not bad. I think EA would have been nicer but Haarlow was OK.

I'm partial to Haarlow. Full disclosure: I worked with her for the last few years with The Blazers and still consider her a good friend. She has many wonderful qualities in addition to how she looks. I should probably leave this thread now.

Rebecca Harlow is horrible!! She does her job like a stupid bimbo;wiggling like she got ants in her pants. Erin Andrews knows her stuff and asks good questions. Can you tell I can't stand her?:skep:

I thought Haarlow was informative, believable and cute but did not look overly slutty like some of the other sideline reporters I've seen who tend to wear business attire which appears to have been applied by a paint spray gun.

Plus I don't have to think of Haarlow as a florida dance team member/communications major who made a noisy denouncement of nude pics which surfaced of her on the internet then integrated the publicity she helped create into a gig on a broadcast reality show that paid her a bunch of money and pretended she was someone of importance.

Has Erin Andrews ever worked the sideline at a Cal home game? Seems like EA only gets sent to games/schools that ESPN and ABC deem "marquee", and we just aren't in that preferential circle.

The answer is to find substitutes. Rebecca Haarlow is hot, does her job servicably well and doesn't have the baggage of EA. I deem her EA Replacement #1 for Cal fans.

On the superficial attractiveness factor alone I'll go with EA.

Women sideline reporters should be forced to retire in their mid 20's. Don't let what happened to airline stewardesses happen to this noble profession.

Too late. Harlow acts like a bimbo; constantly flirting:bluecarrot: with camera in a ridiculous manner. My 7 years old daughter could ask more intriguing questions. You can be stupid and incompetent when it comes to performing a job; and go to Princeton, btw! She was an athlete; therefore, did not enter the Ivy League purely on academics. It's an insult to Erin Andrews, who is the very talented and accomplished to even compare the two. I'll give you one thing, she's easy on the eyes;it's too bad she detracts from the quality of the telecast. She has a degree in US History with an emphasis on the Civil War, so you know Rebecca is a "Super Brain."

Key words: "overly slutty." You mischaracterize EA's career like Fox News. But, it's OK if you don't want to be truthful, fair or balanced.

While all you lads are bickering about who is best, Mama Bear is deciding who she would like to be in her next life! Erin Andrews is in 1st place. In addition to her sports prowess, she can dance. Now I must consider Rebecca--could be smarter, suspect she can dance. CNN's Campbell Brown? Might consider her--great hair, might dance, knows her politics, likely smart, but does she have access to sports facilities.

And what's wrong with early retirement?

I wonder....Erin Andrews has dominated the "young attractive female sideline reporter" niche for years. Lots of women have been referred to as potentially becoming the "next Erin Andrews" but nobody has really claimed that title.

Is EA really that much better at the job than everyone else?

I don't think that's a very fair characterization of Ms. Andrews.

Really? Did you really think that when Haarlow asked Tedford at halftime what he had done to stop "one of the nation's most potent offenses" in UCLA?

This is the same UCLA offense that was probably in the bottom third of offenses nationwide heading into the Cal game.

EA was definitely at the Cal-UCLA basketball game two years ago when gameday came. Student section got some nice "Erin Andrews" chants going...

I seem to recall her being at some football games as well. Oregon '06 or Tennessee '07?

Lisa Salters did Oregon '06 and Tennessee 07.

Before this season, Erin *only* did Thursday Night Football and, overwhelmingly, Saturday noon ET games.

We don't play on Thursday night and we rarely play noon ET games.

Occasionally, Erin did split primetime ABC games, like our Cal/USC game at the Coliseum in 2006 (where she mentioned "DeSean Lynch") and that year's Holiday Bowl.

But as part of her new contract, which she signed in July, Erin became part of College Gameday, particularly the new 6 am version of Gameday, and she replaced Lisa Salters as the sideline reporter for Saturday Night Football with Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit. (Note: She didn't work last week's Florida State/Miami game with them. Instead, she stuck around in South Carolina).

Anyways, my point is that Erin only has worked marquee -- as in ABC Saturday Night Football -- games since last month, which is why we haven't seen her.

Interesting question... She has been at Cal football games, but I'm pretty sure no games at Memorial. She did the 03 game @ Oregon for TBS, the 06 Holiday Bowl for ESPN,and the 06 game @ USC for ABC. I haven't found any others. The likely candidates for home games (as you pointed out) are Oregon 06 , Tenn 07 (Lisa Salters), and MSU, 08 (Heather Cox). I don't think Oregon 06 was EA, but I have the DVD at home and will check.

Both are eye candy compared in general to our cheerleaders once again. My wife even pointed out that the moron cameraperson (politically correct) focused on one of our least attractive cheerleaders when an actual cute cheerleader was in the background (within a couple feet and a few degrees from the camera angle). I guess we will continue to blame the cameraperson.

Graduating from Princeton does not change that she acts like a stupid bimbo. (If she does. I dont know and dont care.)

Bottom line is until she sets up a guy to take nekid pictures of her in a hotel room, she will be Tier 2. :hammer:

Oh, and I'll go ahead and say it:

They should just do the reports in Bikinis. There is only one reason that young cute female sideline reporters have become the norm, and it aint because they ask good questions.
