Cal running back Shane Vereen, like Helu projected to be drafted in the middle rounds, was asked by a reporter if he could dance like Ben Vereen. He said he couldn't dance like his dad's cousin, a jazz dancer, singer and actor whom he has never met.

Vereen otherwise knew what to expect at the combine, as he is the latest in a recent line of Cal running backs to go to the NFL. After J.J. Arrington and Marshawn Lynch, there was Justin Forsett, and after him there was Jahvid Best, who recently gave Vereen several tips on the drills, tests and interviews.

"He gave me a heads-up on the different things," Vereen said. "There is a responsibility in being a Cal running back. You know what's expected and you don't want to do anything less than what is expected."
