Tosh Lupoi is italian-american? I always thought he was of polynesian descent based on his name. And it seems i'm not the only one who thought so either, haha.

One day Tosh will be the HC at Cal. I just hope he doesnt have stints with other schools because I know they will throw some big $$$ at him soon. This guy is the future of our program.

You forgot to mention how Tosh made incriminating statements to an Oregon press reporter shortly after the game.

drunkoski;498299 said:

this. he went off the reservation and paid for it.

drunkoski;498305 said:

oh i think the DC and JT were in on it definetely. only tosh was the only one stupid enough to admit to it publically and therefore he paid the price.

How do you folks know Tosh is the one who spoke to that quack reporter?

does anyone actually give a **** that our d-line faked some injuries in that game? i honestly don't care at all. only part that actually bothered me was the way our program handled it afterwards. Meh, in the past. Important thing is Tosh is still @ Cal and I hope we can keep him here.

I think faking the injuries was fine - but the execution was bad on that Tipoti one, where he got up and then got back down at the clear instruction of Tosh -

The reality is that PAC 10 really wanted Oregon in that title game - two BCS games is a lot of money.

Plus you shouldn't smile while your homies on the sideline smile back at you too. Subtlety guys, sublety. Then deny deny deny.

Formal university reprimand which becomes part of Tosh's file wherever his career takes him, along with the cheater label.

I'm sure it'll haunt him when he goes to cash his multi-million dollar check from Holy Crap This Guy Can Coach U.

i honestly don't think it had a material effect on the game and all the post game talk was about that and not our performance.

totally agree. very disappointing that the faked injuries completely detracted from an awesome defensive effort.

You are not alone. I thought that was why he was so tight with Alualu.

Lupoi may be Italian but, what ethnicity is Tosh's mother?

I think a lot of us thought that he might be Polynesian based on his rapport with Asian Pacific recruits and players. You add that to the poi in Lupoi, and you have the makings of a bad assumption.

Quote:

"He has a way about him," [former roomate Wendell] Hunter said, "where he can connect with people in all different walks of life."

Clearly, Tosh's relationships with players are more about shared values, than shared ethnicity. Moral: A lot more unites us than divides us.

What a great Bay area story. I love this quote from Tosh's dad, John, about Tosh and his grandfather:
Quote:

"Absolutely," John Lupoi said. "I see more of my father in Tosh than in anyone else."
