I just noticed that they poured the concrete for the first section of the bowl, which is exciting in and of itself. But I have to ask how they pour the concrete on a slope like that without all of it running down to the bottom? Do they use extra viscous concrete? Can someone splain it to me?

My father the civil engineer (cal '38) and general contractor is rolling over in his grave.

They pour during the Sir isaac newton moon shift, when gravity is reversed, and all the Hogwarts school appears for only milliseconds. I think Glenn Seaborg and Luis Alvarez aree also included in the incantation. It's a Cal Lock!!!!

So we have this thing called "Google".....it is a relatively new phenomenon that can point you in the right direction if you are savvy enough to use the correct words and STUFF !!!!....

It still seems like magic, since that seating area appears to be very steep.

When I googled How does Google work I got a bunch of dumb stuff, I was not feeling lucky.

I also recommend accessing the Cal Memorial Seismic Correction Construction Updates on a weekly basis.

In the July 20, 2011 update in the last paragraph on page 1, the concrete pour for the seating area is discussed ever so briefly, but it does charge the imagination.
