No, it was pretty awesome. Sounds like he/she's just not used to the vocabulary.

Quick. Somebody jump in there and remind them that in a couple of years Washington State will be bringing in more money via conference streams than Alabama/Florida/Auburn/Tennessee/et al.

We can use whatever damn words we want.

1. Who cares what anyone in the SEC thinks about anything. Not me.

2. I would pump the brakes on the "in a couple of years Wazzu will bring in more money than Alabama" business. The SEC is going to renegotiate their deal, and it is going to be HUGE. Larry Scott is setting the precedent, but Mike Slive and the rest of the conference commissioners are going to happily jump on his bandwagon.

Clay Travis is based out of Nashville. He is a self-absorbed imbecile who has nothing better to do with his time than spew tapestries of inane thought.

A true fan of college football shows his respect for all conferences, no matter how big or how small. This just shows how little he (and most SEC fans and analysts) knows about the Pac-12 and how unwilling they are to learn. I assure you, that article does not and should not reflect the views of some SECers regarding the Pac-12. As an SEC fan living in the heart of SEC country, I must say that it is embarrassing how they act and how arrogant and irrational they can be.

By the way, he took a small cheap shot at Derek Dooley and Tennessee, as well. Don't pay too much attention to anything he writes.

Jeez, CF2, let's not haul out the white sheet stuff! I think the Pac 12 video was a little over the top in terms of bombast, and that it made a convenient target for mockery. The guy may well be a blowhard himself, but I thought his sendup was pretty funny. Can't wait to see what Mike Slive comes up with. I'm sure it will be an easy target as well.

The guy brought up some stereotypes in a sarcastic way.....I"m just returning the favor....and I'm NOT feeling very charitable today....

This from a conference who has some coaches complaining about them raising the academic eligibility from a 2.0 to a 2.5 GPA. This from a conference where both players and students alike go to their schools not to get an education but to watch football games.

Sweet music, from Immediate Music, one of my favorite high-end trailer music studios. Also, IMO it would have been "cooler", and more appealing to a general audience if there was a small feature section devoted to Pac-10 alumni who've continued their success in the NFL. Cough (Aaron Rodgers, Djax), cough.

When I watched this the first time, it struck me that a few schools seemed more represented in the clips than the others. I was bored so I went through and made an unofficial tally. Note: These totals do not include the 25 or 30 seconds or so that highlights Utah's and Colorado's entrance to the Pac-12, where they each got a string of clips. There were also 5-6 that I just could not tell who it was.

Arizona: 15
ASU: 10
Cal: 10
Colorado: 10
Oregon: 11
Oregon State: 7
Stanford: 13
USC: 10
UCLA: 12
Utah: 11
UW: 10
WSU: 10

Fairly even, although OSU was pretty underrepresented, while Arizona and Stanford got quite a bit more.

LMAO thats why the SEC goes out of its way to schedule OOC games with the Pac so often. UF hasn't played an OOC game out of the state of FL in 20 years and ask Alabama how soft Utah is. F*ck SEC fans they don't know football outside of their own league.

I didn't mean you at all. Tenn is the an exception to the rule when it comes to the SEC along with LSU. Those two teams put their money where their mouths are OOC. It was aimed more at the Bama, Auburn and UF contingent that continuously mocks every program in the PAC12 with zero knowledge of anything out of the SEC and for the most part their own team.

Colorado and Utah "where the game of football is in their blood."

Really? In their blood? Because when I think of blood in relation to these two states I think of Colorado's blood as being filled with hallucinogenic substances and Utah's blood as being caffeine free

Hmm... apparently he suffers from memory loss, because when I think of Utah I think of 13-0 and a blowout of their precious Tide.

But, then again, memory loss explains why he can't handle words like "cultural" "relentless" and "uncompromising".

I know it is offensive and you have been a very good poster...so I apologize to you but this guy was the first to start it.. I usually am pretty tolerant of most folks but I also tire of the "pot smoking dirty hippie communist" $hit too...that too is WAY WAY outdated and very exaggerated. I don't start these feuds but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.... We all still hear that crap and I usually don't answer the call, but every once in awhile, I'll fire back... the Vol fans have actually been very fair and friendly after our 2 games together and I do wish them the best....so except for them, you, Vandy and possibly Kentucky fans, I don't have mush time for their ignorant rants either.... Despite my juvenile post, I think you'll find that most Pac 12 fans know much more about the SEC then vice versa...in fact, I'll bet a far greater percentage of Californians and west coasters have actually been to the south as opposed to the other way around...

thanks for your contributions to Bear Insider..... I'm not perfect and sometimes those guys push my buttons...kind of like Lame Kitten....

No worries.
The "pot-smoking hippie communist" cracks as well as the "tree-hugger" cracks are offensive and get hoary after a while as well. But I assure you, not everyone in the South thinks like that. As a matter of fact, my boss where I work is originally from the Bay Area, and she debunks many misconceptions about California and the west coast, for that matter.

I'm glad to be here on this site. I have never been to California, but I'm sure it would be a great place to live, and I am willing to learn more. Just teach me.

No state is perfect. I realize that. There are certain things about Tennessee that concern me, just as there are many things about it that I love. I haven't said anything that has glorified the South, nor have I said anything that ridicules the West Coast.

Just curious, why so active on BI, then? Majority of the members here are either Cal alum or Cal football fans in the SF Bay Area/California, I assume.

Thank you for defending our honor (or at least that of the lamest promotional video of all time).

However, I'm not sure that I fully understand how you fought "fire with fire". Mindlessly responded to a pretty funny blog post with dated stereotypes, yes. Fire with fire? Not so much.

Another thought: next time you answer the call you might want to do so in the blog's comments section, as opposed to on a message board that the author does not read.

DR - nothing negative directed towards you or Tennessee; rather, we like you and your state. Those of us who traveled to the Cal game @ Tennessee several years ago were uniformly impressed by the gracious and knowledgeable fans and the hospitality we were shown. I have never been in a stadium with fans a loud (at the appropriate time to support the home team!). I was very impressed.

I did not mind the video or the blog. I did, however, have a problem with the author's apparent pride in his own ignorance of various "SAT" words. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I did not get the impression that the video's narrator used words that I would characterize as erudite or esoteric. He generally used the common parlance of our times, and if the author truly did need further elucidation, my recommendation would be for him to embark on a scholarly pursuit to edify his paltry vocabulary.

Well, we try.
That was actually my first football game at Neyland; I had never been to a Tennessee home game before then. It was my first year at Tennessee.

I apologize, Piemelon. I misunderstood what you were trying to say for a brief minute (word of caution: I will do that often). I was only trying to prove that that article by Clay Travis is not indicative of all associated with the SEC. I'm not angry at all.

Pie: I know you are a Cal grad. I was merely responding to Dark Reverie's post, in which he indicated that he thought your question about "tell me what there is to be so proud of" was directed at Tennessee and.or the South. Based on your comments about the State (and state) of California being in decline, I merely expressed the opinion that you were referring to California rather than Tennessee or the South.

I then went on, in a separate paragraph directed to Dark Reverie (who IS a Tennessee resident and alum), to express my appreciation for his participation on this Board, as well as that of others who went to schools besides Cal. None of that was directed at YOU.

How did this get so messed up?.

No, I'm not an alumnus of Tennessee; I was only there two years and was forced to transfer for personal reasons. I do remember my time there fondly, though.

With that said, let's see if we can't get back on topic now.
